Think'in Bout Goin To The Other Side....
When I was looking for a new truck I bought the chevy for 4k less than the dodge (same options) and at 0% interest over 60 months, the dodge was 5.9% interest. That was ultimately what made me buy the chevy.... And as for fuel mileage, I have the LBZ engine, which is probably the worst of the duramaxs on fuel, and I am getting between 19 and 21 MPG, the lly engine which is what was in the 05 should have been getting easily in the 20's.
And to put this straight if you think that the chevys have less power, race one,, you will see that this is not the fact (the lbz has 360 hp and 650 lbs tq)
loyalty can only go so far.....

2nd - i owned a 05" lly Duramax and it was a good truck it got 17 to 18mpg constantly, however the LBZ i had got 13mpg if i was lucky, it had 20k on it when i got rid of it, it also had a 6" lift and 35" tall tires but fuel mileage was horrible and because it was a short bed it had s 26gal tank and i had to fill up every 260 to 300mi, the dodge will go 300 on a half a tank
3rd the Chevy ran alright but nothing like the Dodge i have now with a smarty on 65hp it will outrun the chevy easily with the chevys diablo set on 65hp, i also have had a LB7 Duramax with a prgrammer with 6" lift and 35's and a 100hp diablo programmer that would flat out SMOKE the dodge and the LBZ and LLY chevy i have owned and both 6.0l duramaxes.
4th - the chevy rides better and may be slightly more comfortable, the dodge looks tons better inside and out. they are both good trucks but after all my experience with truck WHICH HAS BEEN ALOT, the dodge is better for me.
if your an older guy and would like a little better ride and truck that couldnt ever look better than a dodge no matter how much you spend then Chevy is the way to go
im definently not brand loyal, click on link and go to pg 7 about a 4th of the way down

My LBZ could have been a lemon but everyone i know with an LBZ get 13 to 14mpg, also go to thedieselplace.com and check out all the bad mileage post they have there
Like i said mine could have been a lemon but everyone else i know has a lemon also.
also the guy i sold the LBZ to traded it within a month on another dodge
1 more thing, i bought the truck from a place in dallas, it had already had 2 previous owners before me, it had no record of anything being wrong with from carfax and no record of anything being fixed at any dealership, dont get me wrong i like chevys and have heard about how awesome the LBZ was supposed to be, i was seriously dissappointed

You did get ripped off on the current truck. Leases have their times when they are advantageous but most people dont like them because they feel they will not own the truck. You need to do more research into vehicle prices and purchasing before you even go look at another truck. With a $20k residual, I would be turning the thing in and looking for a new truck. I purchased my 06 4x4 SLT for $31k. They were also doing 0% at the time.
The math behind a vehicle purchase is complicated, so do your research. I like this loan calculator http://www.bankrate.com/brm/auto-loan-calculator.asp
This wont give you the exact, but you know about how much you should be paying before you even get to the dealer. They are there to make as much money as possible..you cant blame them for doing their job. I know it doesnt seem fair to us but it would if we were in their shoes.

I'm all for fair, but in this case i was straight out lied to !!
In any event i need to make a choice in the next few weeks as to witch way to go. Another option i thought of was paying the 20,000 and then selling the truck on my own. I'm sure its worth more than that in the shape its in right now.

I wouldn't consider it the other side.. It's still a diesel. A friend of mine just bought an LBZ GMC Classic. He's only getting 13 mpg empty.. This really surprises me.. My 03 dmax LB7 got 18 mpg on the trip home from the dealership.. They are nice trucks, though they just don't feel as solid on the road as the dodge and ford. I would have to say they do feel more car like. To be honest though, the ford fealt the best with a heavy load on it, but I really like the cummins, so that's why I have all dodges right now..
Racer... keeping and selling is definitely one option. Check ebay and see what trucks are going for. Ebay seems to be a good estimate because its only worth what people are willing to pay...and thats what you see..exactly how much people were willing to pay.
Seems like there aren't to many fans of the 6.7 here.
I have owned nothing but dodges since high school (71 dodge challenger
)
and currently have a '75, '76 ' and '77 club cab 4x4s and a '65 dodge dart gt. with a 273 4 barrel, all original.
It does seem strange that you can get so many different reports of mileage out of basically the same truck (duramax) i realize there are many different driving styles, but from 14 mpg. to 19 plus is quite a range.
