Is there an appropriate 285-70-17 tire?

Is there an appropriate 285-70-17 tire?

Does anyone make an 80 psi 285-70-17 or 305-70-17 tire with an appropriate load range for our trucks? Just casually looking around, it looks like most tires in that size are intended for 1/2 ton trucks. I'd prefer either a highway, all season or all terrain tire, but not a predominately off-road tire. I don't go off road enough to want to pay for the fuel economy hit.

Any opinions if either of these sizes would help or hinder fuel economy relative to the 265-70-17s that came on the truck?

Thanks,
Tad

Toyo makes a 285-70-17 All Terrain thats load rated to 3750lbs @ 80psi. The only glitch right now is that Les Schwab tire dealers have exclusive distributor rights until around the end of this year. Les Schwab is selling them for around $205 a tire. I did not see a mpg increase when I switched from 265 BFG rugged trail to 285 BFG AT's..

Nitto is supposed to bring out E rated Dune Grapplers, and I think the Terra Grappler may be an option as well.

I have been running the Toyo, A/T, LD E, 285/70/17. Only got about 5k on them, so far so good. Looking forward to see how they do in snow.

Where did you get the load range E tires from? I can only find the 65 psi D range (Open Country AT 285/70 R17) around Edmonton. The E rated tires are labelled 285/70 R17 126S. I sent an email to Toyo Canada. They returned with not available in Canada - US market only. Found a dealer in the US, but they don't ship to Canada.
