temp gun to measure cyl temps

temp gun to measure cyl temps

2-6 are all with in 25-30 degrees of each other,#1 is 60-70 degress cooler,this is measured at the exhaust out let,what does this tell me?

#1 is normally cooler because the fan is right there helping to cool but 25-30 is quite bit differance between i would think it would be more like 10-12 degrees diff

You need to check the error % and take that into consideration also. IR guns are great for finding dead or very week cylinders but dont take the reading as gospel. Just for a little test, take your IR gun and zap your hand to see what its temp is. I bet it will read mid 80's when you know your body temp is 98.6* IR guns are great little tools but the ones we can afford (or mostly me) arent very accurate.
