I sent my converter to PTC, they also do the ones in my drag car. They put a triple lock upgrade and extra low stahl. I got the valvebody from Suncoast. The PTC converter was a lot cheaper than the competitors. Everything with the tranny seems to be working great.

well it kind of depends on your goals and mechanical apptitude. you can just buy kits for the valvel bodies if you are comfotable working on a valve body. most people don't so they buy the whole thing.

you hp goal really determines what all you need to do. I would call dave goerend

http://gbtransmissions.com/

or

tony at dunrite converters

http://www.dunriteconverters.com/index.html

the have been the most techically helpful to me on my quest to upgrade my trans.

some of the bigger companies did not sound a technical over the phone or prices were quite a bit higher. no that does not mean they don't have a nice product just not quite as helpful.

DTT
ATS
Suncoast

are some other options.

DTT had decent pricing but I don't know if they were trying to dumb it down or just don't like people who do there own work but they really wanted me to bring the truck in.

suncoast and ats were just more money and in all honesty never responded to me. I must emailed all of them DTT, goerend, dunrite were the three that actually responded.

I want the cheapest quality solution and would like to do the work myself to save $$$$.

I highly recomend contacting as many of them as you can and weigh what they tell you. Also depending on where you located shipping may be cheaper from one or the other. Dunrite is local to me so no shipping. goerend bros is in iowa so it is like $100 shipping. DTT is in canada so I would most likely have some shipping. ATS is in colorado. suncoast is in FL.

I would expect to pay about $1100-1200 or so if you do a kit and converter. you will also need a new 2-3 lever? I believe and new orings for the pump or something like that. now if you do the VB approch just add another $300 or so depending on the flavor.

the real key is setting a realistic power goals so you do the right mods the first time.
