TAG's how do they help
Turbo Air Guides
On the 04.5 and 05 trucks the effects of the TAG are generally quicker turbo spool up, quieting of the air sounds associated with Torque tubes and open air intakes and smoother running engines. We also see small increases in mileage empty and better mileage improvements towing as well as a reduction of smoke.
With the 04.5 trucks Dodge included directional vanes int he rubber elbow just infront of the turbo so apparently they recognized that air flow into the turbo was an area for improvement. The TAG-III takes air direction a step further than the factory vanes by giving more direction and smoother flow into the compressor.
Noticeable changes using a TAG is most often a slight reduction of boost pressure under highway cruize conditions and usually a couple of psi increase it top boost pressures. The TAG yields more air volume into the engine at the same boost pressure which accounts for the changes we see in boost pressure using the TAG. Take a look at the air flow chart on this page http://www.dieselpowerproducts.com/tag. The chart shows about a 9% increase in air flow using the TAG-III on a 2004 Cummins.
Results vary using the TAGs depeneding on many factors so we cannot say exactly how your truck would react using one. Here is a thread from another site discussing the same subject.
