Symptoms of tranny hunting.......I may have it

Can any one give me tell/tale of transmission hunting
I was told that it was common on 05 CR's

It seems to be more noticeable when I'm under load, towing and light on the throttle
From my description on the shifting pattern it shifts up and in a split second down then up again.......DRIVES ME BANANAS

I was told by a few respectable tranny shops that it may have something to do with my VB & may need to be replaced

Would like to know if other members had this problem and any other ways to solve it

I see trany's hunting more if people have larger tires on the truck. Mine does it, the dealer replaced the solenoids and it fixed it for about 1500 miles and it is back. Mine did it when i was at partial throttle, driving slow like in a neighborhood. drives me nutty but I am waiting for the $$$ to replace the tranny and just pull the trigger on a full billet unit.

I was also told that it was may be my 35 in rubbers but on one fishing trip hauling the boat & camper on the west coast billy goat trails I had my stockies on and no change on the hunting

I had hunting between 1st and 2nd under light accel. and it ended up being a bad shift pressure solenoid. Had it replaced and no more hunting. This was on my stock 48re.

My truck was doing it the exact same thing....talked to my neighbor who is a Cummins tech. He said that there is a TSB for the shift pressure solenoid but it doesn't always "cure" the problem at least from what he's seen....

What we did on my truck was adjust the throttle or kick-down cable (whatever you want to call it) and now my truck shifts like a dream. Basically it fooled the truck into waiting just a touch longer to shift...now I don't have the sloppy shifts and no 2-3-2 gear hunt...just smooth/firm shifts all the way through the gears....

If the TSB reflash doesnt fix the issue which in about 60% of all cases doesnt, we have a change in our valvebody that corrects the hunting problem. This is a very common problem that mainly shows up in the 05.

One way to remedy the problem, or to keep it from driving you nuts is to push the accelerator pedal to 35 MPH and then slow down from there. This is what I do most times. If traffic is tight I space back a little for room to moderately accelerate to 35 and then slow down.

Also, these transmissions don't seem to do it in tow/haul, so if you feel comfortable running in tow/haul it might just be the answer for you.

I was told it was the shift program in the ECM by Dave at Goerends. I hate the 3/4 T/C lock up on my truck. Talk about a shift

Mine just seems to hold third for a LONG time unless you are 3/4 or more into the throttle, hmmmm...

This is true, unfortunately there are no boxes to tune the shift programming.
