stocker/s400 vs. 62/71/13ss/s400
Looking into maybe a set of MPI twins down the road but cash is always an issue as with most people.
But my question is, what would be the benefit of going with the 62/71/13ss over the stocker in a twins setup? I mean, would it be worth the cash to upgrade to the 62 now, and later add the s400 to the mix?
obviously the 62 will have less drive pressure, but what are the real world drawbacks of the stocker/s400 system compared to the extra money needed for the 62?
Just trying to spend my money the wisest. Thanks!

What are your overall goals for the truck? What uses? What power level are you seeking?
The stocker/s400 will support about 650hp and tows great. If you aren't looking for 700+hp down the road, I wouldn't spend the extra coin, but that's just my opinion.

If 650 "is" the goal..........does the 62 offer any other benefit? Prob not with Slower spool time, right?

my personal goal is about right at 600 to 650hp. i guess i'm nervous that if I stay with the stocker in this setup, that perhaps i'll be bottlenecking something and either EGT's will be an issue or throttle response or something like that will be sacrificed due to the extra backpressure.
with the 62, i'm assuming initial spool up will be slightly slower, but with a bit greater top end potential. any other pro's or con's i should be aware of?
and what does a typical stocker/s400 setup cost, installed? ballpark i mean.. I am still running stock exhaust right now but i'll end up doing stacks and turbos at the same time more than likely.

Why are you reluctant to use the stocker after all the info that nathan posted on it? The drive pressures are right around 1:1 and it has plenty of cooling capabilities to keep EGTS easily in check for a 600 rwhp truck. Like Omaharam said. 650 is around the limit for the stocker/s400 combo. I say if youre only looking for 600 go with the stocker and save the coin. 600 horsepower with an automatic and quick as stock spooling is a very fast truck.

cruise over to www.maximizedperformanceinc.com Nathan has a price list up and what the kit will include. But last time I checked, it was 3650.00 that includes everything but your stocker.

I don't think it includes the 2gen manifold, but I'm not 100% sure.
Install from a shop I would guess in the $700-$1000 range. I have never checked around, but just estimating based on the time it took me and what average shop rates run.

I rode down the 1/4 mile track in an 06 with MPI stocker over S400 twin setup. Stock fuel system other than lift pump and smarty revo. Truck broke into the 13's with a soft 1.98 second 60' time and 1150*egt at the end of the track.
I'm a believer in the stocker over S400 twins. And I'd have to say that the low EGT's prove that they make plenty of air.
A bone stock 06' would probably hit 15.9 seconds and 1300 egts.

THe MPI kit is complete.. Comes with the manifold and every bolt you need.. Including a new 5" down pipe...

My stocker/ s400 kit with smart, stage 2 cp3, stock injectors and stock lift pump did 580... I then sold the kit and put it on another truck with smarty, fass , ddp 90's and they did 620..
the 62 is goona alow you to grow some.. If it was me I would do a 62/65/13 over s400... super fast spool.. Lil more lag than stocker/s400 but not much and drive pressures would be less if you want to go to 650 to 700 . I seen the 62/65 over s 400 with dual cp3's and flux 2's dyno 711

The 12cm housing will hurt you especially with the 65 wheel. I would try to get a SS housing at the very least. A 62 will work with either the 400 or 480. There is about 100hp difference between the 2 (700-750 vs. 800-850hp).
