Stock Hitch Ratings, 2003 Dually CTD
Hey there. I have the stock hitch, but someone painted over the ratings label.
Anyone have this info, and experience using this hitch with a hitch extension?
I'm going to tow under 5k (Boat) with it, but need to run an extension due to an overhanging camper.
Thanks for any info.

5k you should be fine even with an extension as long as it doesnt have alot of tongue weight, i have had over 20k on the back of my truck, our company truck at work got its hitch bent down about 2" with a 20k load but probably 2k on the tongue(stupid idea) hit a small pothole doin 20mph and there went the hitch, point is they can handle at least 10k and 1k MAX on the tongue and you will be fine w/o extension and probably 5k and 500 MAX tongue w/extension.
Thanks for the reply.
My extension would have to be so long that I decided to extend my trailers' tongue instead. That way I can eliminate the increased torque on a long extension.
There are hitches to do the job.. a Reese with 3' extension is marginal at 4500lb capacity, and the magnum superhitch with truss extension would do nicely.
The 1200-1600 cdn pretax shocked the hell out of me though. I can't believe its that much for some bits of steel. My whole truck only cost $16.9.
I guess it's for the righ guys who don't mind spending big$$$. I'd rather have a nice boat!
