Stack install tips

I just bought a stack kit yesterday. Does anybody with install experience have any tips to ease the install of these things. Especially cutting the hole in the bed floor, and placement of the mounting clamps.
TIA Jason

I havent seen any 3rd gen setups, but if the frame and such is like the 2nd gens, then you can do how I did. Go from the downpipe, to the bed with steel pipe, then 90 it up, to a 90 over the rail, with flex pipe to a 90 through the bed. Drill some holes and use the clamp through the side of the bed. Hope this helps? Ask member John Rodriguez about his stacks. He has a 3rd gen with them if this doesnt help...

did you buy a pre-made kit, or did you buy the pieces to build your own?

i got a premade kit, the y-pipe had to be set down into the bed floor so instead of a 5" round hole, i ended up with more like a 5"x9" oval to allow for the pipe to recess down into the floor.

Jason....If you're willing to drive to Northern KY or Central KY, I could get you a couple of phone numbers of guys that install stacks if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself. PM me if needed.

I'm very pleased with it.....noticeably louder at idle and cruising, sounds great at WOT, and no drone that others seem to complain about; not obnoxious on long trips (like my 10 hr trip to Myrtle Beach, SC my family & I take every year). Won't bend your ear whilst towing, neither.

here some pics of my truck with the grand rocks kit on a second gen

this side pic shows how mounted them back about 3" fromt he front of the bed to prevent myself from needing to cut the cross member of the bed up front

like i said earlier, i used a hole saw then a jig saw to "oval out" the hole so the bends of the y-pipe couild sink down and set everything right to the bed of the floor. i assume this is how its supposed to be, but if you wanted to mount it higher you could...but i like the height of my mitre cut stacks at about 5-6" above the cab
