srt 10

A friend of me bought a srt 10 last week.
I was wondering if I could beat him if I upgraded my cummins cr with a arctic air twin turbo ,and tst twins ?(and off course a goerend trans)
mine is a ,03 2500 4x4 qc SO 250 hp ,right now i use a diablo predator at extreme but haven,t raced him ,just to see how big difference there is.
I,m only intrested in 0-60 mph or 0-100 mph.

thx sterling

an srt 10 have serious problems with traction, so on the street with moderate mods you will be able to beat him,,

It all depends on which SRT-10. Does he have one of the quick regular cab 6 speeds or the 6,000lb turd quad cab automatic.

Its all about traction... Its hard to get one of thoes a deasent time because they can hook up. I think the typical QC auto srt-10 driver is running 14sec 1/4 on a good day.

I dont think you will be able to beat him unless you drop some $$$ on tranny upgrades to stomp on him off the line. The first 60ft usually wins the race. Twins and such wont do a dang thing for you if your tranny is slipping and your smokin the tires.

So if you build your tranny up and do a 20psi 4X4 launch with a sps66 and TST/ stack and have enough fuel supplied you should be able to beat him any day of the week without twins. Just make sure you get that Gorend trans built!

He has the quad cap with automatic.
I,m going for the arctic air twin turbo, cause I want to keep the fast spooling like my stock turbo in normal street driven .
I can,t wait till everything is ready for big torque ,and line up with him in 4x4 with a boost launch.

With the twins, built transmission(of course), more fuel, maybe stack a box or two, either glacier or fass pump, and launching from 4wd, it will be a KILLING!

Heck, I enjoy beating up on Mustang GTs with my 05, just a straight pipe and edge, suprises them quite a bit...
The white truck was a different story(433rwhp/950trq), all the ricers thought it was a dumb hill billy pickem up, till it went boiling past them belching smoke

even with my single sps6280 and my present stack it would be a slaughter. Twins are nice,,, but $$$$$ a nice sized turbo like the 6280 (62 14) is a nice combo for quick spool and decent boost,, remember if you go too much boost you will have to do your heads (studs gaskets orings)

With that 6280 single turbo ,could you notice any slower spooling than a stocker ?
I mean is there much difference ?
I use my truck everyday ,so I want it to be as stock while normal driving.
I think the price that arctic air charged for a twin turbo kit is very resonable or at least cheap comparing to others .
still it is 2850$ and 2950$ for a build trans ,and a tst twins $$ fass $$...mmmm

It isnt as fast spooling as the stocker,, but very driveable. I run my juice on 5 and my bdpp on tow, works very good,, but I think I can even make it better with a better programmer,, maybe smarty, or diablo,, going to try some out here soon

A sps62 should spool faster then artic air twins. Keep in mind that you should always do head studs and o-ring on twins just to be on the safe side.

Don't see many people here with the artic twins... wonder why???? I can tell you that lots of people run the sps62.

Sounds like you need to do some more research

Just make sure your $2,900 tranny has a billet input shaft or else it WILL break during a boost launch.

I have done a lot of reading here ,but find that everybody like different things .
Thats good ,cause I would never learn something here if we all have the same setup.
Could you explain me why a sps 62 spools faster than twins ?
Has anybody tried 2 same size turbochargers ,just like gasoline engines?
I am new to diesels ,and want to know as much as I can .

thanks sterling

I believe it has alot to do with the pitch of the vanes. As far as using 2 that same size I think that you would blow the head right off, the size of the turbos we use are much bigger than in the gas apps

Is that a general comment about twins or the Arctic set in particular?

I have drove the "fast" single cab 6 speed and it sucks... I wasn't impressed at all. I think with that setup you would have no problem waxing him. From what I hear the 4door autos are even slower. What a waste for 10mpg...
