sps66 as bottom turbo on twins?
sps66 as bottom turbo on twins?
i am always thinking of doing something myself and different and just wondered what people that have this turbo think of it and how it may work on a twins setup.
definately use it on the top(primary) turbo, and it will work well. I dont know what you should use on the bottom, sorry, I dont want to steer you wrong. you need some serious fuel and boxes if you want to go big. Also consider an upgraded transmission/clutch and headstuds in your budget.
hope this helps

i think that a 66 would be a little on the big side for a ht3b. isnt the sledpuller series able to be adjusted in sizes. could you make it a 64 or a 62. that would make it a little better for a top turbo. ht3bs are hard to beat for the price but i hear alot about the aroura 5000 as a bottom turbo. good luck in whatever you do.

A 66 is way too big for a top charger unless you're shooting for 1000hp. It would take at least a Big Brother below it, maybe bigger!

And as far as 1000HP goes....... Still havent seen that come out of a HPRC. You will be around the low-mid 600's if everything else is done right and up to par.
I was trying to push this setup on another member and it was also a 50/50 mix, half said it would be killer and do it wile the other half seemed to be afraid of what they didnt know or never heard of and suguested an off the shelf twin setup from ATS or BD
It you got the $$$ and time DO IT!!!!! I dont think you would be dissipointed. I think the nay sayers are woried that the spool will be slow but I dont think that will be a prob with the right electronics, injectors and CP3.
But the 66 will support 650+ by itself...B1's (the one's that are used in twinsets) run out of steam below 550 TYPICALLY
Not to mention the 66 would be a bit laggy as a top charger!
Also, on a HPCR, from what I've seen, they don't have the RPM to spool bigger twinsets to the point where they do enough good to work well. Stock turbos and HX40's work VERY well on them!
This is just my opinion...I know Jim Fulmer has a SPS66/BB combo on his 870hp 12v, but it takes somewhere in the neighborhood of 140+mph to make those numbers. I don't think the CR trucks can handle twinsets that large yet. I know a few people have tried to use them on VP trucks, and can't get them to run like they want.
Again, IMHO,
Chris

I agree with some of what you said, but I think that with the right tuning(injectors, bigger CP3, cam) we could definately use some of the bigger twin setups, and put down some serious numbers
. Also, with this 'torque management' stuff starting up, who knows?!

Yeah, when you guys figure out how to cut the electonics out of everything BUT fueling, you'll have us whipped
That's what I like about m old 12v's...they don't care what the truck is doing, they just push fuel. If the truck can't take it, whoops
