Take your exaust off it will make it way eaiser. Be ready for it to be a pain in the rear to slide all the way in. Once you get it part way in you might have to pull it the rest of the way tight with the tranny bolts. Just make sure that if you have to do it that way the bolts go in nice and easy. If they turn in hard you aren't lined up correctly. Oh also double and triple check that you have the bolts torqued to spec. Flywheel is 90-100ft lbs and the pressure plate is 45ft lbs.

It will be easier to get the trans all the way out so you have room to remove and install the fly wheel.

Best advice you can get it to get a tranny jack like DP said.

Also removing the exhuast might help but the second time I did mine I left my 5" pipe in place and didnt have any troubles.

Also I would locktite the FW and crank bolts if you dont plan on takin it back out anytime soon.

I just take my exhaust loose at the downpipe/turbo connection then at the downpipe to straight connection.

Just be happy you dont have an nv5600 to try to negotiate. They are about 150lbs heavier than a g56

Is there much differance in a G56 clutch install VS an NV5600? Besides the weight? I think I am puttin a DD in an 03 pretty soon is why I ask, just lookin for tips since I havent done one.

5600

when i put a 3600 dd in my 03, there was no reason to take the exhaust off. and the engine balances on the motormounts perfectly. use a tranny jack and seperate the transfercase, it will be alot easier. make sure the tranny is in gear when you take the stick out so you can line up the splines when you are putting tranny back in.

is ther a gasket on the t-case or just silicone or the like and is it easyer with the t-case off because of ease of setting up the jack or limited space

Be very careful when you take the dual mass flywheel off. They weigh a LOT. Don't let it fall on any part of you.

What he said
I would not try to take the stock dual mass flywheel off by yourself it is very heavy its like a torque converter there are 8 bolts that you have to take out from the front of the bellhousing.

What do you mean by; "front of the bellhousing?" I am getting ready to install a 3250 DD in my truck.

Thanx.

There is an inspection cover on the front, passenger side of the bell housing. I can remember but I think its 2 10mm bolts that hold it on. You have to remove this to get to the 8 bolts that hold the clutch to the flywheel/flexplate/thingy thats bolted to the crank.

Depends on where you are located. Around here it is high, 4-500, but I think up north it gets cheaper.

Maybe some others will chime in.
