South Bend FE jerky
South Bend FE jerky
I have had the clutch in for about 2-3k miles or so and it is still very jerky, does anyone else have this problem with theres? anything i can do to fix it?
i love it most of the time but the other day coming home from a truck show i had to wait in traffic to leave the show field and i guess because i was goin in and out of gear a lot the flywheel got hot and it was real bad.....
It's very grabby and always will be. I had one in my 2001 and HATED IT because of that. I eventually swapped it out for the OFE and was much happier. The hotter you get the clutch, the grabbier it will be.
The guys who run major power or pull sleds or whatever love 'em... but unless you're making tons of power you probably don't need it.

Mine seems to have gotten a little better, only slightly though. It's still pretty grabby in second and reverse. I've gotten a lot better at slipping it enough to get rid of the grabbiness before full engagement. If you hate it, too bad. That's how it's supposed to be, I mean it's designed to hold quite a bit of horsepower and torque. My dyno numbers in my sig are on the FE. Until it slips, i'll keep adding power.
I had an FE on my 97 for about 90,000 miles it stayed grabby the whole time but I got used to it the only time I had any real trouble was backing heavy trailers you'll get used to it DONT down grade unless you just love wrestling the tranny in and out its just the nature of the beast. I talked to Peter the other day he said the DD3800 is a little more street friendly he would probably take your FE in on a trade if you see you cant get along with it.Just my 02
