Snow, Rain & Ice - Pac Brake Bad?
I read that the Pac Brake should not be used when it is snowing, raining or icy. I thought it would be BETTER to use it during those conditions as they slow down the truck.
Has anyone had a bad experience using any exhaust brake in those conditions??

i have with my jake though. was going a little to fast into a sharp curve after is rained, and it did the 2nd gear lock up at 45 mph and once the jake closed,we started going sideways. but i was able to get it back straight and no damage. i still use the jake when its raining but i just pay more attention now

The reason for not recommending the use of an exhaust brake during foul weather is that the brakeing action of the exhaust brake could cause the rear wheels (or all wheels if you are in 4x4) to lock up because of lower traction conditions. My son drives a tractor trailer and their company prohibits use of the Jake Brake when the road conditions could cause the wheels to lock up.
