smarty vs smarty beta

It's even embarrassing while driving with the cruise control on. If you accelerate to pass someone, as the truck slows back down it dips below the set cruise speed. Well of course all the boost is lost at this point, so when the ECM finally "gooses" it to get back to speed, I get a nice little puff of smoke out the back.
I think you'll find those of us that can get a lot of smoke out of the Beta 4.4 software still have stock turbos. I did the transmission first, since not all of us are lucky enough to get a super-freak transmission straight from the factory.

I know what you mean by embarrassing. If I give it any significant throttle under 1900 RPM it can and will black out a 4 lane highway.
Actually the stock turbo would give you less smoke (except maybe at WOT) because it spools so much quicker. With 4.4 and the stock turbo on mine it would actually clear up completely under WOT. Mine smokes like crazy now with the larger turbo if RPM's are under 1900.

For daily driving i do think 4.4 smokes less (compared to wild)....but when you get on it, it'll still smoke like a train....last night, i blew smoke on a ford from 20-80mph.....came in very handy!
I switched from a wild version to the Beta 4.4.
Smoke was greatly diminished. Power seemed like it may have been down, but that could be because the power comes on smooth now. Much easier to drive and control smoke with the Beta 4.4

Where did you guys get the Beta version sw??
I just upgraded my smarty to wild torque management and thru it on level 7 out of the gate. The low down power is incredible but so is the smoke

i've found something kinda odd about the beta smarty. now that i've gotten used to the increased power, i have kinda gotten over the power and have returned to almsot like-normal driving. my overhead currently reads 21.9 mpg where it was normally around 17.5...btw, hand calc was only off by 1 or 2 tenths....so i may have gotten an increase in mpg's....gotta figure it out by hand though.....
but, i notice that now i am back to using the cruise control, it is not as smooth as it used to be. what i am saying is that when i lock into maybe 60mph on the cruise control, i get like a surge or bucking that only goes away if i increase speed a bit. anyone have this issue?

I had this issue with beta 4.3 because the throttle was very touchy but have had no issues at all in cruise with beta 4.4.
With the twins on now I'm going to try 4.3 again to see if the extra down low it has will spool the top turbo faster.
