Smarty+Quad Race stack results

Well I put it on the dyno today. I was surprised with the results.

Smarty SW#7 and Quad box 60 = 430.68 hp & 795.88 tq

Smarty SW#7 and Quad box 100 = 435.42 hp & 863.45 tq

Smarty SW#7 and Quad box 130 =434.08 hp & 892.32 tq

The HP really didn't move but the TQ went up. I didn't dyno with the Smarty alone, so I cant really tell what the Quad box added.

The reason for the Smarty on SW#7 is because I was told on the 305/555 motors it does not add anymore HP on the higher settings.

Pics of the graphs are awaiting approval.

Wile there may not be a HP difference on a dyno but there sure is a very noticable difference on the street. Settings 8 and 9 decrease your TQ managment even more on 305/555

Green, More accurately.....levels 8 and 9 do not add more fuel at peak hp or torque....they add it earlier in the rpm levels and with virtually no TM you get lightening fast turbo spool which gives you a little earlier rise in Tq and HP which may or may not result in more peak hp but there is more area under the curve.....A zero Quad might have been nice to try. Have you dynoed with just the Quad before. When stacking more is not always better...as in Smarty 5 and Quad might have done more than Smarty 7 who knows....These trucks take alot of time to get the stacks running within the limitations of the CP3 and air intake. Was it a very smokey dyno session and how much boost were you able to develop and do you know your EGT's? When you dyno it is good to get as much info as possible. How did the truck sound? ks

No, this was the first time on the dyno

Smoke was very minimal. Boost was at 40# and the EGT was 1250 deg.
I was hoping that the added pressure from the higher stages of the Quad would push me a little higher. My guess was the 450-475 HP range but I came up a little bit short.

Supposedly their is a dyno opening closer to my home and I will be able to play a little bit more. I only had three pulls on Saturday.

I was on a Dynojet at Kauffman Motorsports. It might be time to break down and get the new TST box with pressure.

If your boost was 40#, there was minimal smoke and your EGT's were 1250....you didn't dyno......you went for groceries. With that turbo and smarty you should have had 48psi in an instant...what is your wastegate set at. IF smoke was minimal you have more room for additional fueling. With EGT's at 1250 you are dead center on your turbo efficiency map....To make more hp you have to go a little higher. All in all given your boost, smoke, and EGT's your truck is working great and had a good dyno for the settings. Anything more will be higher stress on the engine, more annoying smoke, an nearer to your longterm head gasket distress. How did the truck sound? ks

It may make a little difference that his is an 04 vs. 04.5 too.

FWIW, my 04.5 made 397.5 hp with Smarty only on level 5. The torque number was not available due to a dyno sensor problem but it is guestimated to be around 750ft lbs. This was on a mobil dynojet.

wastegate is set at 40# right from Industrial Injection. From a standing start full throttle aceleration run my truck only puts out a haze. No real smoke like other trucks ive seen. Now if the boost is low it smokes like crazy. They Dyno operator asked me what turbo I was running because boost is instant.

I stood right at the drivers side door when the truck was dynoed and I could see gauges and smoke. Should I change the screw settings on the boost elbow? I really don't want to run anymore than 45# on the stock head gasket.
The numbers are posted on TDR look for Angelo E.

I thought about that Bob. But then thought three Runs and three switches on the Quad. Oh well live and learn!

I'd be tempted to let the screw out a bit....But I'm easily tempted. If you want bigger dyno numbers you need more boost. ks
