Smarty Jr vs Smarty Sr question
Smarty Jr vs Smarty S6 POD question
I know that the Jr. is just for 40, 70 or 100hp gains and that the Smarty S6 goes well beyond that...but what else does it do that the Jr cannot? I haven't yet chosen which one I will buy. The extra $200.00 or so that the S6 costs doesn't scare me...but if i was planning on having the discipline not to exceed the +100hp limit (for tranny life) would I be losing some other cool tuning abilities by going with just the Jr? Thanks.

Basically they are quite similar until you get into the higher HP programming. The SR allows you to "stack" the programming of the Smarty with programming of a "pressure box" by offering each of it's tunes in a "no timing setting" so you don't double up the timing on the then combined programming.
Unless you are serious about upgrading your trans and or a turbo then the JR would really be all you need.

I'm going to beef up the tranny a bit anyway but leave the turbo and injectors stock. I'm sure that I'll be quite happy with a Jr at +100hp or less...I just wanted to make sure that there weren't other cool things that the bigger Smarty could or couldn't do within the hp range of the Jr. Thanks.
The biggest difference in the Jr and Sr is rail pressure and torque management. The rail pressure on the Jr is stock, and cannot be adjusted. The Sr can adjust is a little. The torque management is also different, default on both is the same but the Jr gets weaker settings and the Sr gets stronger settings. The strongest setting on the Jr is the weakest on the Sr.

In laymans terms, the Jr. is good for a mild to middle of the road modified truck. The Sr. is more for folks with turbo upgrades, injectors, stacking boxes, etc. You have more tuning options with the SR.
I say go with the SR from the get go and you wont have to worry about possibility of regretting getting the JR. I think that most people who start "playing" with small mods will agree that once you start to "play" and add power, you will more than likely disgregard the original plan of no injectors or turbo, etc. and end up wishing you would have gotten the SR to begin with.
