hey all i just bought a smarty jr for my 07 5.9. i have been reading up on this jr for a while now and i decided to pull the trigger. my question is when towing with the jr, whats the max egts i want to see? since the jr advances timing, the cylinder temps will be higher and i will see lower egts on my pyro. stock i can hit 1450 with a load on so im assuming 1200 is the max egt with the jr with advance timing, or should i run stock timing while towing. i dont wont to go above sw2 while towing because i like my transmission, well kinda

 

You want to run Smarty timing when towing, I run TM2 all the time (TM3 is too hot, and TM4 is too much soot in the oil)..

I keep 1300* as my limit, with 1350* for short bursts.. But honestly I am hard pressed to even hit 1200* under normal towing.

 

Me I'm seeing 1100-1200 on my pulls here in AZ 6% grades 90-105 outside temp. pulling my 32' 5th wheel. My Jr is on sw1 tm4 tq4. TM2 is less smoey though. I couldn't say on the soot part as my oil is black as coal since day one and oil reports are normal.

 

well fed ex dropped it off this morning and i open it up and its the s06 full version, so someone sent me the big one when i paid for the jr. not sure if im going to like it or not. i dont think i can have all this power at my fingertips.

 

well i tried it out and i dont really like it. i tried sw1 first and my egts were around 1200 when i backed out of the throttle empty, then i loaded sw2 with stock timing and smoke was a little much but cleared up quick but my egts were 1300 empty. i wanted a good towing tune with low egts but this is a little much for my stock truck. i loaded the stock programing back in, i like the power i just dont like backing off the throttle. im gonna try to unload it and buy the jr.

 

nevermind...don't think it'll work on an 03'

 

it says 03-09 on the plastic case but im not sure that makes sense. i thought there were 2 versions one for the 5.9 and one for the 6.7
