Smarty Jr. & Edge Insite... +/- Give some input

I need some input from you guys on the gauges and programmer I’m thinking of going with.... pro's and con's of using them together, what your likes and dislikes of each are problems you might have had, or research you've done on either going with the same combo or going a different route because of???...

I've decided on the Smarty Jr, and Edge Insite. I like the Jr for the simple fact that 3 settings is more then enough for me (yeah I know...down the road I’ll probably regret not getting the Sr, but for now It’s all I need), it's not detectable (when in stock setting), it reads/resets codes, and is simple to use..(plug it in, set it, unplug, and go..). No brainer for me there....
I like the Edge Insite because it's a simple install (plug it into the OBD II port and done. well that and the wire for the pyro reading..), it's multi functional, and i don’t have to worry about where to mount it (i like the pillar mt).

I guess some questions i have are, am i going to have any issues with plugging and unplugging the Insite to change the settings on the Jr?
Is the Insite type of gauge accurate?

I've gone back and forth on the regular gauge Vs the Insite, and it just seams that it's much less of a headache with the "all in one" type of gauge.

any feedback welcome! Thanks

I has the same issue. Unfortunately though, with the guages I wanted the insight either didnt do the reading or i had to buy addtional probes or whatever to get the info. I figured if I have to do all that extra wiring i might as well add old fashion guages........which im my opinion are easier to read on the fly.

Gauges I added were EGT, Fuel Pr, Boost, and Trans temp.

I was hesitant at first about cutting a hole in my dash, but I went with the dash pod and man let me tell ya, I love it. Easy to read, dont bump my head on it like I use to with my old truck that had a pillar mount.

Not trying to sway you as I really wanted the insight also, just wasnt practical for my particular needs.

Lots of luck man,
Tom

I have A-pillar mounted gauges that I installed about 15 months ago......took me about 2 hrs to do the complete install. I really like the gauges & location, quick glance and you can check out everything.

Recently install Smarty Jr. (70 HP setting).......man what a difference!!! Just travelled north on Hwy 550 from Durango, CO. to Blue Mesa Lake just outside Gunnison, CO. Had to go thru 3 high mtn. passes (10,000-11,300+) pulled those at 50 mph+ running 1200* EGT,s with no sweat. Thank-you Smarty Jr.!!!

I Full-time RV and pull heavy all the time........gauges and Smarty Jr. IMHO are the way to go.

Pick what's good for you and you're situation. Good luck
