So does this mean that an SO is more likely to burn up when you add the power of the jr? Do these differences show up in a 03 or 04 HO or only in the 04.5 and up?

You are highly unlikely to burn up an engine with a Smarty JR. The chances, in my mind anyway, of burning up an engine will be due to abuse and those chances would be relatively equal from a completely stock truck treated in the same way.

Most of the differences are 04.5 and up. Lets remember that there are any number of 12v and 24v engines sledding, dragging and putting up big #'s without things like piston oil cooling and holding together just fine. A smarty jr alone isn't going to harm your engine.

He does update the software as DC releases new flashes. Each new software release by MADS, or new "catcher" versions put up on the website, will incorporate the latest DC flash.
