Smarty Jr 5.08 vs new 5.09
I just wanted to get some input from people who have downloaded the new 5.09 programs for the Smarty JR. Right now I am running the 5.08 and just wanted to see if it is worth the time to download the new 5.09. Are there any benefits, does the truck run any different?

The 5.09 version corrected the issue with the torque management settings. They now go from 0 (most torque mgmt) to 4 (the least mgmt and best off the line performance). Just be aware that TQ4 can be damaging to stock transmissions.
You can also check for software updates under the News heading on the Mads Electronics website.

EDR it didn't correct the TQ setting back to what matches directions when you get it. But you are right it is 0-4 4 being most aggressive.
Me I noticed that 5.09 just runs better at least on my truck. Other then that it's the same.

Ok, so I just down loaded 5.09. So, 4 is the least amount of TQ management meaning more driveline abuse? More agrressive to me can be meant either way like more agrressive manangement or more agrressive throttle response?

Thanks quadman20 and ah64id, it sounds like you guys feel it runs a little better. I will have to download it this week and give it a try. I will let you know if I hear a difference in timing rattle, I have a little now and I will see if it changes.

Just my 2 cents... I love the new jr version! Very smooth running program. Works great on my truck. Running SW 3,Tm 3 and Tq 4. Lots of torque off the line, you will definitly need some tranny mods. I can get my truck to spin the tires at will with a down shift at 40mph WOT!
I will be turning the TQ and SW down with inclimate weather. Definite traction issues other wise. Have fun!

How does this compare to the original ( dec 07 ) software... mine didn't have the smoke problem so I have never upgraded from the very first version.

I am running the 07 version and do notice a lot more rattle during a mid rpm range than with stock programming, so much so, that I am thinking about swapping out my DDP 50's for 90's and running less timing to get the same power. I can't imagine how bad the rattle is on the smarty sr. with even more timing.

I thought Tq 2 was the more agressive setting or is it different on the 5.09 update, I looked at Mads site and it is still the same as before.
Or I'm I reading it wrong?
