Hey there, not sure if i can post here or not. I tried to PM Bob about this but his inbox is full. But here it goes. im having some issues with the smarty for my 07 dodge. I took my truck into the dealer, so i took the smarty off. When i got my truck back, i tried to hook it up to my truck again and error comes on the smarty saying "error unknown software. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks for the help!

 

Try PMing him again, he just cleaned out his PM box.

Are you sure you set the truck back to stock when you took it in? If you had a software loaded on it and they flashed the ECM, you may be having problems because of it.

 

Alright will do thanks! Im pretty sure it was set back to stock, and it went in for a water pump, do they usually flash the ecm?

 

Sounds like they flashed the ECM trying help out and all...LOL What software do you have on the Smarty now? There was an update out there for a recent flash for the 06-07 trucks. Had to do with Smogging the vehicles. Download the new software and install it.

 

Im not sure of the software now, its been awhile since i did an update on it. I will try that, thanks!

 

Yes they reflashed your ECM and yes you will need to update to the latest Smarty software for the message to go away and to use your Smarty. Trust me on this. The other issue is if you like an older version of Smarty software and the dealer does a reflash you won't beable to use it again. Its happened twice to me. I went in to have them fix a rear seal that I payed for not warranty and they reflashed the truck.
