Smarty Impressions...
OK...I have had a chance to play!
Smarty on 60 hp, TST Twins on 4-1, and MP-8 on 20% or so...
Want a few smoke shows till the 5000 lights? People were turning on headlights behind me on the interstate!
Once I am spooled...it all but disappears again....slight gray haze. (Side note: I love this turbo on top!)
Truck flat moves. I picked up an insane amount of power/speed down low.
I hit 50 psi boost before the converter locked! It is set to lock at 35 mph for my normal driving...and it used to take till 40ish before it would lock if I was WOT. Now..still set at 35 mph the mighty Cummins is laying it down so hard it take till almost 50 before it locks. I will have to set my lock up a lot lower on the strip!...
This has pushed me well over 600 no doubt. I will dyno some time in the next month to confirm. I need my rail pressure gauge from Doug Leno first (hint hint) and the timing function on my TST.
The "modified TM" is perfect. Not to harsh...but there. I can much easier power brake to build boost and fuel hard to 3200 or so on the 3-4 shift (which used to be my huge hole in the power curve).
Anyways...I love the fuel. It pulls WAY harder than my 600 hp tune with the TST and MP-8 alone. I hit 1500 with the boost gauge pegged at 100 mph.
Now...I just need to learn more about the Smarty timing...how much...what level...constant advance vs variable...etc. I probably will end up using adjustible timing on the TST so that the Smarty can do its timing. Numbers would really help!
The concerns...
Throttle is too sensative. It does everything in the first 50% of travel that it should do over 100% of the travel. It is fun at first...but imagine 10 hours into a road trip in the middle of the night...tired.
I could not make the the truck downshift once the converter is locked...so my 4-3 or 3-2 shifts with the converter locked (example...a little road rage) are no longer. I don't mind the 4-3 but the 3-2 is a pain in the butt to do manual.
The engine really sounds better with the Smarty program on. It does not do that "kinda confused lope thing" that it did before with the TST/MP-8 only.
I love it it...it is a must have product! But, we need published timing numbers, less sensitive throttle, and downshifts back!
I look forward to using the USB plug!
Marco, Bob....please PM or email me at cquestad@ssproducts.com to discuss in detail.

CQ, A buddy just gave me a copy of DP....Truck looks just as badarssse in the big gloss pictures as in your gallery. Your setup is just about perfect now....Wait till you try the 130 wild program with TST and MP 8 at the track. I have to wait until my smaller stix arrive as I can black out a city a will. The Smarty is great for those with biggg singles and laggy twins....they spool like a rocket. I can't wait to hear how the track suffers. I'm using 30hp as my daily drive.....a little less tire chirping and smoke but on the shifts it still huffs a smokey. It's raining now but if it clears up its test and tune night at the track. ks
Well I just loaded my Smarty for the first time at lunch. It did take about 5 miutes to load, still half the time of the BDDL. Did not have much time. Turned TST to 0/0 and loaded SW #6(130hp No Timing).
HOLLY CR@P, pretty touchy throttle at low end, some people might not like it, but it is fine with me. CRUDE, very crude oil that is, smokes as much as any modded 12v I have ever seen. Just a few aggressive accelerations, definite power. Smoke does not really clean up very well, leaves a light grey hase at full throttle.
Turned TST (w/late twins) to 3/0, still a lot of smoke. Way too much for daily driving. Well I had to get back to work so I will do some testing different programs and settings this evening.
I am still a happy camper, just means I need to find more air. May have a boost leak somewhere I can't hear. I can still push 45psi pretty easy, so can't be leaking much.

well, I am glad you guys are getting to have fun, looks like it is going to be a while before I get mine. I am one of the guys that had the 2nd gen version and I am trading up to the 3rd gen version.
All of the first shipment has been sent out, and Bob is waiting for the enxt shipment from across the big pond now. I prolly will not get one of those either, as he is gonna just change out the chips from what he has told me. So, I guess I will be on the back burner till the initial rush is over.

I just tried SW#3 (60hp + Timing) over 4/1 TST twins and 25% MP-8 for a short lunch errand. Truck felt great...sounded great...but the idle would hesitate at 900 rpms for a second on two before dropping down to normal at a stop. I think I will not stack timing till I get a better grip on this. I did not see that much different EGT's anyways...maybe a little lower.
Can anyone describe the "too much timing" clatter that I am supposed to be wary of? I don't feel like raising the cylinder pressures way above where they need to be to try in fight off a 100 EGT's...since my OEM studs/gasket have been holding 60 psi just fine with the TST doing all of the timing.
I need to get my twins or some water for 1/4's. I still can't believe I can hit 50+ psi before my converter is locked. I am also excited to get my rail gauge in...it seems the rail is staying up too pressure better than the TST/MP-8 alone.

The SW 6 was just not driveable in the city because of the smoke. I will have to get some help and make a smoke video. No previous combo made it smoke like that. The power was there, pretty touchy low end throttle, but pulled strong the few times I was able to get into it. It just did not seem to light the SPS66 fast enough.
I switched to SW 2 figured that would stop the smoke. Still smokes pretty bad. No matter what I set the TST to 0/0 to 5/2, still smokes more than it should and just does not seem like the turbo wants to spool fast enough.
Not sure what is going on with the truck. Going to HotRodDiesels tomorrow for BOV, hopefully Michael can find a boost leak that I don't see or hear.

You guys can see my mods in my sig, the dyno numbers are before i put the Banks high ram and technicooler on. My settings were TST on 5/1, BDDL on tow, and Ramifier on 50%. With this said, would i really benefit that much if i went with the Smarty? Would i just want to swap the BDDL for the Smarty? I would really love to hear from you guys, thanks a bunch-Justin.
I need to take some pics...I will get my brother do do it on the highway...behind me during a roll on. Or maybe a burnout?
WFO...it is going to be close. You have a potent combo right now if you have the air to back it up. I waited for the Smarty because of its "fuel curve shape"...so to speak. Richard Martin made mid 600's on an 03 with your fueling...and small sticks, so it obviously works. See if you can find a friend or somebody close to let you try...that will be the only way to tell.
I like the way my transmission is feeling with the Smarty too. Revs/fuels hard right to redline, seems to shift quicker, and still is semi smooth. It probably is personal...

I do know the latest Triple Dog CL 2.3.1 with low end fueling is very strong. Hopefully I will get my issues straightened out soon and be able to compare SW 9 without the FD and Hazmat showing up.
I don't about the 3rd gens but smartys on 2nd gens don't show real good numbers on a dyno.
Like the best stack at one time seemed to be the EZ/TST stack (2nd gen) but now it's the smarty/TST stack.
The smarty stack will probably out run the EZ stack but the EZ stack makes more power on the dyno.
