I have the DTT parts and the enhanser...run smarty on beta 4.4 level 7.....i do get the 2-3 issue (at light or constant throttle around 30mph)....everything else is good to go....

I did notice the 2-3 issue is worse as you change TQ Mgmt toward the more agressive side (wild)...Beta 4.4 is moderate tq mgmt (my best guess)...my 2-3 issue got worse with the stand software on wild....

Also, the voltage regulator can affect the 2-3 issue....my trans guy reduced the voltage (under hood right side by firewall...small box)...to low 4v from high 4v...and the 2-3 issue went away...but then the shifts were mushy...so i put it back to 4.9v and deal with the 2-3...


FYI, my trans builder just mentioned that the 2-3 hunting is bad for the clutches....saturday i'm going to change my voltage to see if i can get it to go away and still have good shifting quality...

are you talking about the 2-3 flare or hunting (shifts back and forth between gears) Please let me know about this voltage thing?? My shifts now are very firm.... with the enhanser if I message it up to 2200rpms, as it shifts, it takes off and sets you back in seat. I only notice it when I'm behind some slow poke and with light pedal.

I dont know if yours has the voltage thing...it may be DTT specific....it's a small box right by the firewall, close to the fuseblock.....sorry i cant help more, i'm not up to speed on what / why / ....just no my trans guy adjusted it until it got rid of the hunting...

I have been thinking of building my tranny, and spoke today with Dave Goerend on the phone in fact. But having a Smarty and seeing these issues across several different builders, it makes me wonder what I should do.

I have a little bit of the gear hunt problem. I have a different valve body and program now and its nowhere near as bad as it was. there is a little gear but not bad at all. I was told with a built trans it just brings all the things out with the tranny that does. like if it hunts for gears stock then it is brought out more with all built parts? that may not make any sense but a tranny guru explained that to me

Interesting. I will ask my builder about doing that also. I'd like to give it a shot anyway.

Thanks for the feedback on Smarty making the issue worse. I thought it probably would, and I think I need to lay off modding my truck anyway! +65HP and a stout trans build should suit me fine for the long term.

My tranny was ok till I uploaded the new software. I did get the hunting issue but it did it stock. My builder says he can get rid of that fairly easy. However, the new software on wild TM makes it to where the 1-2 shift and 2-3 shift wont happen before 2000-2200 rpms....I dont know if theres something new about the software affecting the transmission or not, hopefully Bob or Marc will chime in, I plan on emailing them to hear their input.

4.4 beta did increase the gear hunting on my truck

running the 4.3 beta = minimal hunting between gears

more smoke or more gear hunting take your pick still by far the best CR programing avail period!

I have run a handful of programs on my truck and I would not give up my smarty for nothing !

I still love my smarty incl the gear hunting

(IMO smarty is still the best there is )

Agreed, i'll live with the hunting long before i give up the smarty!...

Remember that the shift enhanser can and for some must be reprogrammed as you change TM softwares.

That's what stinks, DTT wont sell the adjustment programmer so that you can test / adjust it....and it goes out the window when you change tq mgmt settings...not that i do that a lot but still....i've been trying to set beta 4.4 (only 1 tq mgmt setting) to eliminate the hunt....
