Sirius Sportster w/stock radio?
Sirius Sportster w/stock radio?
Howdy,
I've got an '05 2500 SLT with the factory radio (has "RBK" on the lower left of the face in small letters). Just bought a Sirius Sportster Replay and have a few questions...
First, will the following kit work to direct wire the radio into the stock factory '05 SLT radio?
http://www.logjamelectronics.com/piechry02aux.html
Kinda pricey, I was hoping someone could confirm that it works or offer up cheaper alternatives...
Second, anyone have a favorite off the shelf mount that works well in these trucks? Looks like Pro Fit has at least one...
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-5Aw4C63...50&I=042DG7002
However, the picture makes me think that with the sportster cradle and the sportster in place that it might 1) obscure the radio controls and 2) be tilted toward the driver too much for the passenger to be able to control the thing (8 million channels and I'd rather ask my wife to find something while I'm driving... :-)
Anyway, just looking for some "been there, done that" advice. Right now I'm leaning toward fabbing up my own mount, along with buying the direct connect kit above...
Thanks!
Mark

That piece you are looking at will work. You will take the line out of the sportster and run it directly to the aux module. I install 4-5 Sirius and XM units a day. I mount them with metal I buy at lowes or abs platic. The mounts they come with are a joke. Most cutomers break them within a day or so
You cant even remove it from the cradle without it breaking sometimes. I work at Circuit City here in Indy PM me for wire colors if you want them.
