Silver 62 Turbo/Fuel Combo
Silver 62 Turbo/Fuel Combo
I recently installed an industrial injection silver 62 turbo and some DDP 50 hp injector nozzles on my 06 cummins. As of now, I am only running a Smarty Jr. (which does not raise rail pressure), and even on the 100hp tune it seems a little laggy (w/ smoke) and takes a pit of pedal to light the turbo.
What do you guys recommend as far as tuning/rail pressure goes to satisfy the turbos needs?
Although the nozzles are relatively small, what type of tuner/box combination would be suited for such application?
Thanks

I installed a 62/65/12, had no smoke, spooled better/faster than the stocker. I have stock injectors, stock fuel pump, got a little smoke, lost a little fuel mileage.
When I installed the twins and put the 62 over a 475, I lost the smoke, gained in spoolup and better fuel mileage than I had before adding the 62. I am running the Smarty Jr also, set to the tow mode.
Funny how we all get different results on our 2006's.

The silver is alot more turbo then a 62/65/12. From one end of the 62 spectrum to the other really. I'm guessing you have an auto which tend to be smokey with a 74 without high stall. You can try more programming with less timing will help. I usually run stock timing and tq on mine to control the smoke. I can drive in front of a cop without much worry even with the smarty on kill without timingand tq. Otherwise she's a bit of a pig.

I have Flux 1.5's, Smarty SR, TST 03 twins, EZ, and my Silver 62 was still laggy, absolutely awful, towing heavy. It was fun running around empty when it would light, but it really limited the use of my truck for anything other than hot rodding or dynoing. I was much happier with my SPS 62.
The least amount of timing, and the heaviest amount of low rpm fueling you can throw at the Silver, the better it will respond. Raising rail pressure with an EZ , Puck, or MP-8 will help.
