Sharing EGT/Superchips/tow

Well I had the trailer on the truck today (mid-high 7k area). And this was the first time with the trailer and the EGT gauge. I hit the Grapevine in CA in northern L.A. County, right where Castaic is. It is a long steep hill. As you go up there are signs telling you to turn off your AC to avoid overheating, and on the way down, the speed limit is 40MPH for trucks (5 miles). Any how, going up the North side, I just put it in 5th and set the cruise at 55 (that is the speed limit as you go up for trucks or trailering vehicles). It would always stay between 1100 - 1250. It only hit 1250 a couple times when the cruise control did a little throttle mashing. Now, if I floored it it would hit 1300. It would start to slowly go beyond that and I would let off. I never tried it in 6th gear because I hear lower RPM's raise EGT's.

On flat ground is sat at 800-850 degrees.

It is important to tell where my probe was. It was on the left side of the manifold right above the turbo.

FYI.

I'm glad Superchips worked for someone. My dad tried it on his 07 5.9L and it shorted out his computer and alternator. We had to ship in the computer with the tuner and superchips fixed the computer and sent it back. Then they didn't have a file that would work on his truck and it would be 7-10 days. Well 2 weeks go by and still no file so it was returned. That is the short version. Good Luck with yours.

You have no idea. If you saw the truck you would be mad about it too. The only reason he was gonna use it was so he could adjust for his larger tires that came on the truck. He gave them the 30 days he had to return it and said forget it. He bought it 2 days after he bought the truck. So the truck was sitting with 200 miles on it with no computer in it. He just bought a bully dog triple dog since that is what I have on my truck. He had to buy the outlook to go with it. But he doesn't care as long as his speedometer is set right for his tires.

My speedo wasn't corrected with the outlook or the TD It read correct speed on the outlook but the factory speedo was still 10 mph off..

He just wants to something so he can know how fast he is going. That is all he cares about. It came with 35x13.5x20" wheels on it.
