seats and backup lights
I want to see if you fellas can help me out. I have a 05 QC CTD, I don't like the seats in my truck, the backs are too short, the top of the seat hits me right in the sholder blades, what are my options to make it more comfortable.
Can I just change the seat back, I guess I can also change the whole seat, but that would be pricey I assume, it does have all the power control stuff for the seat. I had an 01 Dakota before this, high bucket seats, they were pretty comfortable.
Also, as moost of you know, the backup lights are awful, I do have sitting around, one of those tractor lights, that is encased in a rubber mould, with one wire coming out. I was going to pick up another one, run it o a switch in the cab, run the swtich directly to pos terminal on the battery, with an inline fuse. I see some talk about relays, what is the pupse of the relay, if I do go with one, where do you connect it, where do I get one. I don't need the backup lights all the time, where I live, I have a few acres I can back into, it would for those occasional times in tight spaces. The switch I thought would be the easiest way to go fo me.I know a little bit about electric, enough to be dangerous I guess.
Thanks for the help.

Can't help with the seats, but just installed back up lights with the relay. The way you are hooking them up, they are independent of the back-up light system. You will be controlling them from a switch . . . . so . . no problem. If you are going to wire them into your back-up lights on the truck so that they come on automaticly when you put the truck into reverse, then you will get an overload (like I did before I installed the relay), and your back-up lights on the truck will stop working. You then have to go to the dealer and hope that they will reset them for you.
It just sounds to me like you want to install some lights that will be switched from the inside . . . . . getting power from your battery (don't forget the ground). That should be fine. No need for a relay.

Welcome to the DTR!
check out the Cabela's web site. they have a nice set of backup lights for cheap. they come with the relay and complete instructions for hook up.
the relay is so the lights get a full 12v directly from the battery when hooked up correctly.
