Talking Scangauge and instant MPG

New toy, err gauge! In an effort to improve MPG I've searched and found several Hypermiling websites. Many interesting ideas, some are downright dangerous, but most posters use a scangauge which I researched and decided to buy. It supposedly doesn't work with 04.5 and 05 Dodge Rams, but I bought it anyway for my other vehicles and the person at scangauge said some of the Dodges did fine with it. Mine does and it really works with lots of readouts, ability to clear codes, and may eventually do transmission temps on Dodges as it can on Fords and Chevys. The guys at Linearlogic are upgrading the device, and say they may have other readouts available in the future as the chip has lots of capacity to be modified.
I have missed the instant MPG readout I had in my Y2K CTD and is not available in the current overhead, but the Scangauge has it and after one day of playing with it I can see changes in my MPG.
Downside!!-Your spouse (mine anyway) can get very irritated with how slow I'm going at times in an effort to see what my MPGs do at different pedal pressures, coasting, etc.
Neat gauge, does what it says, can match the color to the dash light green, and worked as advertised out of the box. Bill

Want to really have fun watch the LOD and TPS. Compare those two to the mpg. You could also look at the MAP and add that to the equation.
I wouldn't know any of this from experience just heard stories about all this stuff.

ive had one for about a year and i really like what it does, ive used it to find which tune on my programer uses the least load on the engine at a given speed and how much throttle it takes to go a given speed,i also liked the intake air temp and actual coolant numbers.i mounted it on the steering column and the wire comes out the back and went behind the cover and was out of site, like mentioned if it read rail presure or fuel pres on our trucks it would be a hot seller.but its still a cool tool,
