??'s for guys runnin A5K/K31

im thinkin about gettin a stock K31 or 2, one for my 3rd gen and another for my 94, and was wondering what all you had to hook up on the CR trucks with the electronics. did ats even use any othe the electronic stuff on out trucks? im not concerned about the hookup on the 94 since everything is nice and simple, MECHANICAL!!!!!!
what would it take to bolt a stock K31 up on our trucks? i have a boost fooler and al that jazz, just need the lowdown on the minute stuff....thanx in advance.

The 5k is a simple bolt on procedure... 3-4 hours total.. No electronics. The electronic wastegate is bypassed...

You just need a resistor to plug into the trucks wiring harness, or you can make one but I am sure ats will sell you one, as will II or HTT.

However I dont think the exhuast housing nor the flange to bolt to your manifold is gonna work, not for a "stock" K31.

The a5k goes directly in on the cr. I bought the plug in from htt, all it does is connect the two wires together. I dont know what they done diff but my first a5k coughed and surged a lot even after got broken in, this new one has 200 miles on it now and its great, you wouldnt even think it was the same kind of turbo i had before. Super nice turbo.

do a search on the K31, a lot has been posted about it.

your not going to spool the stock K31 on a street driven truck, the Aurora 5000, on the other hand, can be driven on a mildly fueled Common Rail

I have only 1000 miles on the A5k but I think you need to be aware that tha air intake is gonna take some major modifications. I will say unless you are fueling harder than me(smarty beta, mp8, cp3 lightly modded) You will have alot of lag. I was fairly surprised after the way people talked about it that it is a super high rpm turbo compared to the stocker. I cant wait to do dual cp3's now and get the TST and 80hp inj. put on. Id still say you will be happy with it though.

When pulling my trailer my guys would have to back off of following me because it was smoking soo much it looked like the trailer was on fire!!! If you don't tow heavy you'll love it!! Just takes some getting used to!!

ATS will never tell their trade secrets.

they do a LOT of machining to make a smaller exhaust housing fit on the K31, and thats about all I know.

Let me know if you ever get that K 31 to spool, I love your attitude by the way

im not trying to be a D%&K....but this aint my first rodeo................i know how to use the search button............and ive looked up K31, A5K(no workie), aurora 5000, aurora 5000 turbo..............you want the rest? i couldnt find the answer so i asked......but thanks for telling me to search again, ill have to remember that next time.
Also, thanks for actually answering part of my question. im trying to find a way of maybe doing my own work on a K31 since i found a couple cheap....so why not try it.......no i wonder what exhaust housing they use or what they do to the new one to make it work...anyone had one opened up or have one that went boom that they wanna sell me?

I believe borg warner builds the aurora 5000 for ats. thats about all I know. I have one on my daily driver and like said above it has alot of lag. the turbo will handle alot of fuel and it based on bigger parts than all the S300 chargers. I like mine. It would probably be better on a manual tranny truck, mine is an auto and its either all or nothing with it
