Revo vs 4.2

I loaded the Revo and it does pretty well. Egts are down and the lack of smoke is nice. The 4.2 had more power down low and the Revo has good power from mid and up. I will be hitting the dyno in a couple of weeks. I will try and dyno both to see what has more power. What setting on the Revo will give it the most power. I believe I have the wastegate off on the revo (have to check and make sure) and I am only getting about 32 psi as the revo would hit 40. Maybe there is more fuel with the 4.2 because my egts would reach 1600. What have you seen compared to the 4.2?

The 4.2 is one hard fueling tune, I had to turn mine down to SW5 because 9 was almost undriveable with a 6 speed. It just took off no matter how much you feathered the throttle. I think I will load revo today and try it out.

I think 4.2 is still stronger than the revo, though the adjusability and lack of smoke is nice.

The 4.2 tune is a race tune and can only be compared to the TNT/R. The current Revo tune is I assume based on the 4.4 which was the last beta.

4.4 has nice power but, it was designed for the towing/mileage guys. It's worked great on many trucks though and has been adopted as one of the best tunes. For basically stock trucks..... it is. 4.3 is a bit more mild than 4.2 and 4.4 is even more mild.

Everyone seems to be expecting some mind boggling change when going to the Revo but, it's not so much a brand new tune as it is a newly made adjustable 4.4. There were complaints about even the 4.4 and I believe Marco refined it and made it into a one software does all tune now call the Revo

I think that's the best summation yet for the new vs old tunes.

how safe is 4.2 for a dyno run with my mods. I know I will need to get a turbo if I keep running the 4.2.

That would explain it then, I thought the only difference between the Revo and Revo/R was the 4k, and shift limit disable. With all this hype I was expecting a tune greater than 4.2, but I guess Revo/R is what I need.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Based upon my experience, i would think Revo is based off of 4.11...not 4.4....but i'm guessing as 4.4 stomps Revo / 4.11 on my truck...as well as TnT Non R 4.13....only think i've personally found comparable is TnT r 5.4 with out the 4k / SL enabled.
