resonator ?
Newer Megacabs have this small muffler type device on the tailpipe over the axle that is called a resonator because by design it reduces the resonance in the cab. Newer Quad Cabs do not come with one but the older trucks may have...It is not a CAT...
Resonators are usually bullet shaped small mufflers that are louvered internally, not chambered. This usually includes glasspacks and race type mufflers, that are designed to bring db levels down. Catalytic converters are more intended for emmisions catalysts, but its extended benefits are sound resonance.
