Reducing turbo lag
Reducing turbo lag
Is there a way to get the turbo to spool up faster without spending mega bucks.
When I was shopping for trucks I tested a 1999 5 spd that had a 70 hp chip and different injectors. the turbo spooled as soon as you touched the throttle the feel was awesome, the truck I bought is a 2003 6pd 305 hp engine and it has turbo lag, power is good when it finally decides to spool up but by that time you already have to shift. If I could get it to spool up faster then I would be very happy, are there any negative side effects to having you turbo spool up quicker?
The truck is stock exept for two 3" holes drilled into the front of the air box by the previous owner, I'm not to sure about the BHAF mod because Im in Canada and drive in snow a fair bit and the temps get a little colder
I don't want to risk blowing my clutch but I wouldn't mind a little extra power and mileage, I drive pretty easy but i do like acceleration, not big on top speed though!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated

i was gonna suggest a boost fooler from Quad....my truck spools much faster now with the boost fooler....but come to think of it, i've never ran my truck on stock fueling with boost fooling....i'll try it and see. The Quadzilla Boost Fooler is not in production yet, i have a beta version.
As stated above, i can also testify that downloaders spool faster than modules....ie Juice module vs Bullydog downloader

Will modifying the intake system or a differnt muffler make the turbo spool much faster.
Can you use a downloader with the rokktech sensor, what happens when you have to take your truck to the dealer and you have a program downloaded, can you put it back to stock??

intake and muffler will spool somewhat faster, not a whole lot. I wouldn't try a downloader with a rokktech.....yes downloaders can be put back to stock but they will leave a footprint if the dealer looks hard enough....unless you use a Smarty which i personally wouldn't recomend.

If you want that crazy larry to spool in a real hurry and hold boost and pull really hard, get a Quadzilla Boost fooler. It's the best mod i've done since my DTT.
