Question recalibration for 35" tires??

I would like to know how hard is it to change the calibration on it? i have talked to the dealer they said they have to change out a gear for 78 bucks ! i know the smart changes it but it goes back to stock when the program is removed.

That's the question I want to know also!!! Word on the street is that when you re move the Smarty it removes all foot prints, so yes the you lose speedo calibraition. Dealer replacing the gear thingy is BS.

The dealer can reprogram your truck, they dont replace a gear.
Some do charge labor for it, since it does take them a whole 2 minutes to do it, they gotta get what the can to screw you over....

I left mine be, I could care less, I can multiply/add to know how fast im going.

The other day, I plugged my Sanpon mt2500 Scantool into an 05 Hemi 1500.

Pinion factor was one of the menus. Are the diesels the same?

I would check it on mine, but 06's use CAN so I need the adapter.

I havent really noticed a difference. These trannys dont shift great from the factory anyway, only thing ive noticed is longer shift to 4th under light load, but if I just let off a hair it will shift.

I just cant justify paying the dealership for several hours labor on a 2 minute job.

Well upto the 2006 it is very easy for the dealer to do with the DRBIII tool. I have had mine changed a couple of times by the dealer. First time for free in about 5 minutes and the last time I showed up at 5:15pm and the tech that does their DRBIII diesel stuff was leaving. Service writer ask if he would stay and do the ABS RPM adjustment if I paid .5hr labor. $37.50 was reasonable to me in that circumstance. Just depends on the dealer service department and your relationship with them. I like mine to be accurate, sometimes my math skills fail me.

Recal for bigger tires

So if I understand it right, the 05's and earlier can be flashed to compensate for the bigger tires, but the 06's on up need an adapter?

Thanks!

whats the max they can program to at the dealer? i recall it was a 315?

You have a Juice Attitude, right? You can program it for tire size and check it with a GPS to make sure its dead on. Use the speedometer on your Attitude and you're good to go!

On the 3rd gens prior to 2006, I think you can set the ABS RevsPerMile to compensate for most any tire size. I don't remember exactly what that screen looked like while I was looking over his shoulder two and a half years ago. The number for larger sizes is smaller than for the stock size tires, so theoretically you can program for a 1 mile circumference tire size, theoretically of course .
