Read Before You Buy BD Twins
I understand where your coming from. But the ooh-ahh factor just isn't there when you open the hood. Since I like to show and go, I went with the twins because they'll look good when I do get them on there, they're not gonna make excessive heat, and I should have less lag as well.

Yeah, I was sucked in by you and John P at that first dyno day DodgeTruckWorld had. Remember, you had the old brown truck with the camper and all the Hemi boys were dropping their jaws on the ground when John's '02 put down almost 500. Before that, I was like, what the heck are these diesels here for. Now look at me.
I've Got a set of Bd Twins here at the house. I'm powder coating the pipes and fitting everything together before we install them on a friends 06. The kit itself seems to be nice and complete.
Heres the SAD part, The 4 pipes that come in the kit are the bigest pieces of JUNK that I have ever seen in my life
BD Power makes alot of money with all parts they sell, but for some reason they can't buy a tubing bender that is worth a flip.
All the pipes have hundreds of teeth marks all over them. It took me several hours of grinding to try to smooth out the smallest pipe, and with 3 coats of powder coating on it you can still see the marks.
Don't buy a set of BD twins if you plan on opening your hood at a show
If you are going to paint the pipes, a bunch of BONDO will do the trick before you put the paint on.
I'm not slaming BD Power as a whole, but what I'm saying is that with all the money our members and other people have spent with BD you would think that the products they send out would be worth the money they charge!!!
BD you need to fix this problem ASAP before you lose customers.

In the times of the internet it sure is easy to jump on the web and bash a manufacturers product with out even giving the manufacturer a chance to make it right. I think you might be a little surpised if you take a look around at some of the other piping out there. I know I was.

This kit is not mine, like I said before. If I was to install them as they came out of the box (black in color) They would have looked so-so, not good enough for myself or the owner of the truck! Once I removed all the black coating you put on at the factory, what did I see but 4 pipes that were covered with hundreds of marks about 1/4 of the way through the pipes
If you read my first post you will see that I said that I wasen't thaking about your company as a whole
just your junk pipes
With all the money your company is making why don't you buy a pipe bender that doesn't use teeth to grip the pipe. You can buy a bender that uses a smooth jaw to grip the pipe like the rest of the companies selling pipes
Like I said before your pipes are JUNK, not the whole kit! Don't pick out one part of my post and go with it. If I asked for another set of pipes, they would still be made on the same bender, so what good would that be.
I also had an ADMINISTRATOR from this site come over and looked at your pipes, and he thinks they look like CRAP just like everyone else who has seen them.
I'm not here to get in a large scale battle, I'm only trying to keep other members from making the same mistake my good friend did.

SO by saying a mistake that to me and most other sensible people out there is saying the pipe looks like crap. So what it comes across as is dont buy them they are crap. This kit was designed for go, not show. Our truck had a powdercoated chrome setup on it and our powerder coat guy was able to get them to look great without any work. At what point did you phone us and say hey, the pipes dont look good could you send me another set? I guess it was easier to come here and tell everyone that they were crap. I am signing out of this thread, so if you want to bash the product or me go ahead, I have made my point.
From the outside looking in with the super high prices of twins these days a guy would think they would be PERFECT and plated in gold. 2 years ago bd twins could be had for less that $3500. Now its $4500. I wish my paycheck went up that percentage every year
Kantdrive55,
Either you are absolutely ignoring my question, or you have no idea what I'm talking about.
Mandrell bending usually involves a filler for the pipe before bending ensuring an even bend and stretch of the pipe without crimping the inside edge.
This means relatively little when you are dealing with large pipe diameters such as 4" or over exhaust tubing. With smaller diameter pipe such as the twin set up you guys offer it could mean up to 20 hp+/-.
As for painting an existing surface: Unless it is plastic coated like the stock pieces from Dodge on the second gens you should be able to sand the existing surface and apply new coating without stripping the part to bare metal. The "Hundreds" of bender marks are necessary to properly Mandrell bend/stretch the tubing to the proper shape without costing horsepower!!
Personally, I just wanted an answer to my question, from someone who should know!!!

If I understand correctly, masonic-dodge didn't like the paint quality on the pipes so he stripped them to bare metal. When he stripped it down to bare metal he saw that the tubes had hundreds of bending marks on the outside of the tubing that the original finish covered up. If the original coating covered them up then you can't really complain that the tubes were crappy.....maybe not up to your excellent standards but not crappy....If you had lightly sanded the existing finish and applied many coats to your standards they would have looked excellent without the polishing work....Me, I'm like runamuk....I'm more concerned with how smooth the inside of the pipes are. Ideally, BD would bend the pipes and then polish them inside and out to a mirror finish and then coat the outside. If they made every set of pipes show quality than your workmanship wouldn't shine like it obviously will with this set. Good work. I think disappointed would have been a better description than just calling the pipes crappy. But I guess it worked as now
BD is aware that there is a problem with the quality of the finish and will probably endeavor to make a better finish on their pipes....another good job.
I hope I understood everything and I'm sure the owner will be very happy with your work. ks

You then said in your quote above for the second time " At what point did you phone us and say hey, the pipes dont look good could you send me another set?"
My question to you is, At what point in your responses did you say, "hey, perhaps a bad set slipped by our quality control. I'm sending you out a replacement set tommorrow that I inspected myself, which is more representative of what you should have recieved, and once you get them please return your set to BD to my attention". But "NO"
you took the defensive role. You could have turned a negative situation into a positive one for both you (BD) and the customer..Remmember the "WIN WIN" situation. What you and many others have forgotten, it's called CUSTOMER SERVICE!
I wonder what Brian Roth would have responded?????
And as you have said above " I am signing out of this thread, so if you want to bash the product or me go ahead, I have made my point."
I believe I have made my point, and your responses have convienced me to reconsider if I want to do anymore business with Your company in the future.
HeberRam,
You can't hold Pat accountable for all of BD. Everyone has a bad day once in awhile. He could have handled it in a different manner, but like I said, everyone has a bad day.
This is the first offensive/negative post that I have seen Pat write. I have talked extensively with Dave, and he definitely does good for BD.

Strangely enough, and this takes some doing, The only one blatently bashing here seems to be the BD guys!!!
Instead of making things better by offering to replace the tubes you and your company have so far chosen to bash your customer in an open forum!!!
!!!
!!!
!!!!
If your first response was ,"Please return your product and we will replace them with suitable product." Then I personally would have dropped it!! This would have shown some sort of caring about the quality of your product!!!
Otherwise you are showing this forum and the world just how much you BD guys do not care about your customers!!!!!

Heber ram, personally keep your business as I'll never go near a BD product!!! Nor will I recommend them!!! I will never recommend a company that will not stand behind their product to anyone!!!
Just from your post!! KMA=Kiss my....goodbye!!!

If BD jacked him around about replacing them, then he would have been justified posting this in the forum.
But for Masonic to say don't buy BD products, just because of teethmarks on 4 pieces of pipe, doesn't make sense to me.
