Raptor or AirDog 100?

Along with getting the smarty and tranny upgrade, I'm going to have to upgrade my fuel delivery system. I'm not looking to go much more than 100 or 125 hp over stock. Would I be okay going with just a Raptor pump and a better fuel filter in the stock housing or should I plan on upgrading the whole system with an AD 100 or 150? Suggestions?

Also, how difficult are the Raptor and/or AD systems to install? Have a great shop to work in and access to most tools - just haven't tackled a project like this before. Hopefully the instructions are relatively clear . . .

On the search up above, type in '2 micron fuel filter' and then scroll down to # 12-19 posts, there's a few pics. of how some do the install(brackets). What you see on the carter lp, that support up to 600 rwhp or that's what they claim.

Does the AD100 or 150 require you to drop the tank? If so I should probably make preparations by NOT filling the tank before doing the install.

Not all that familiar with the Liberty Canister mod, but is that being done because of issues with the AD systems (or FASS or whatever) when the tank gets below a 1/4?

Yes you must drop the tank to do the air dog 150 and i would say try and have the tank empty as possible. Also I have ran mine down to the red E mark more than once and never had a problem.

Yeah, for the 1/4 tank issues. I can go down to E on the guage w/o problems. Some people have good luck w/ the draw straw supplied, but if not cut right. Then you have problems w/ low fuel level.

Yes you will either have to #1 drop the tank or #2 take the bed off. Option #2 is the best.

I have the Raptor 150 and love it. My was installed as part of a roadside repair due to the stock lift pump going out. I wasn't able to drop the tank, so I had to use some 3/8" hose and some adapter fittings I got from Lowe's. Works like a champ. I can still keep a constant 15-20 PSI at WOT, so I'm going to hold off on the tank drop for a while. I liked the AirDog, but didn't like having the filters under the truck. I will be installing an inline 2 Mic in the engine bay here shortly to go with the 5 mic Baldwin in the stock filter housing. So if you decide to go with a Raptor, I say spend the extra $10 and get the 150.

The location that they recommend mounting the AD - is it out of sight? Would prefer not to have anything hanging down under the truck.

any truck or year that has a stock intank pump...will result in bed removal or tank drop(airdog or raptor) its not hard to install them tho.
I like modded liberty canisters my self.....they do add extra cost tho.

I can vouch for what Mark said, the only thing that sticks below the frame rail is the mount itself for the rail, the filter and separator are tucked up and comfy, and easy to reach to drain the water out periodically. With that you will get the 1/2" fuel line, air and water separation along with 2 mic filtration, and lifetime warranty like the raptors. For the price I think the AD is a better choice, even for those staying stock because it is a well thought out, dependable kit. Don't hear too many problems out of them. And it'll give you time to clean your fuel tank while its out or open.

Rip-

Any low fuel problems associated with yours? Any problems with the supplied pick-up tube?

The Raptor would be an easier install but by the time you add the additional price of a 2 micron filter you might as well get an AD100 which will supply all the fuel you need if you're adding 125 HP. Mine has no problem keeping the PSI's up for my 450HP.

Dropping the tank is not that bad (done it 5 times), you should plumb the AD return back into the canister so you'll have no problems when you get low on fuel. I modded a Liberty canister and have never looked back (follow the link in my signature to see it).

What's the cost associated with the Liberty canister mod?
