No sir, not at all, I can run my truck down to 0 on the overhead and it'll run perfect. I have the AD100, so I didn't need the pickup tube, since I had an early 04 I didn't even have to drop the tank, just maneuver my hands enough to get the quick connects on. THe AD 100 doesn't supply one I don't think you need it. Pressure holds strong at 15-16psi, a little noisy, but on 4.3 sw7 it only pulls down to 13psi, never seen it drop below that besides when it cycles.

He's right, mine was filter canister mounted. When it came time to install, we just unhooked everything from the stock pump and lines, added the AD in place and left it so I could reuse it if the time came. That's why you don't have to drop the tanks on 03-04.5 on an AD100 install, it can rely on the stock drawstick. That's probably what is causing some of the issues (the fuel canister in-pump) and hence whey the Liberty mod is fixing that.

does the stock pump that is on the filter canister have to be removed if installing an AD 100?

No it doesn't, it just is unplugged and left alone, the plug it uses to trigger itself is connected to the AD. My stock lines and pump were all left intact.

So is the difference the AD100 vs AD150 or is the difference in the YEARS of the truck that are making the installation more difficult (dropping tank) and subsequent reliability of the mod (1/4 tank issue) questionable?

My truck's an 06 like yours. I first tried using a Liberty canister to get around the in tank pump, you'd think it would end up being the same as RIP's 04 but that was not the case. When I got down to just over ¼ tank I'd see my fuel pressure dropping to zero so I needed to plumb the AD return back into the canister to keep it from running dry (all explained in my thread). I guess the 04's canister allows more fuel to get into it somehow when fuel's low, but I've never seen one.

Dropping the tank is not a big deal, just run it as low as you can before trying it.

The only reason to go with an AD150 over the 100 is if you think you'll be making more than 600HP. Problem is there's a restriction in the canisters where the fuel goes up through the top of the canister, the opening at the 90 is less than ¼ inch which is restricts the flow too much for the 150 so you need to mod the canister with 2 draw straws, 1 for the AD supply, 1 for the AD return. 53 ****** did a great thread on his mod for the 150.

I have the AD100 plumbed into my stock cannister instead straight to the CP3 and have the return line going back to the filler hose (I was going to do what you did). I have no low fuel pressure problems at 1/4 tanks. I think my stock cannister has enough fuel in it for time so my Liberty Cannister bowl fills back up. That's how my local diesel shop installs them. No issues and they install quit a few.

If that makes sense...

Hmmm, do you have a fuel pressure gauge?
(If I didn't have one I wouldn't have known my canister was being sucked dry)

All I have to judge low pressure is my BD Low Pressure Light that kicks on at 5psi or lower. It works as in the past when my BD Aux lift pump crapped out on me then my stocker lp took over and that was starting to go w/ the light kicking on WOT.

That's interesting, I wonder how long it has to be low before the light comes on?
I don't know, maybe you'd be surprised if you had a gauge...?
