Rancho 9000 question
When my truck was still new a shock place in Texas installed a set of Rancho 9000's. They are getting weak and I am now wondering if they installed the correct shocks. I know that many of you are running the 9000's and would like to know how they have lasted and what part numbers were installed.
In a previous thread ages ago that I can't find now, I seem to remember that somebody posted something about using different part numbers.
The shocks I have now are 99197 and 99269.

Can't find my post right now, I posted the part numbers last year. I will look at my invoice tonight and see what my part numbers were. They were purchased July 2004 and were suppose to be compatible with 04.5 Cummins 600 4x4 2500.
Mexstan I pm'd you also.
For anybody that wants to know.

I have what I think are the 9000RS shocks. At least that is what the sticker reads, but did not crawl under the truck to look. The invoice only gives the part number and nothing to indictate if it is plain vanilla or something else.
I was one of the first to install Rancho's on a 2003 and the dealer had a hard time finding the right part numbers and went by what the factory gave him on the phone. Now I see from the list posted above that the part numbers for the front shocks are different to what I have installed. Will see what the installing dealer has to say when I see him next month
It is interesting that the front shocks which are are a different part number to the Rancho list appear to be OK. It is rear shocks that seem to be getting soft as the rear jumps around on acceleration on a bumpy road. I have about 35,000 miles on these shock and that seems like a low mileage for them to give trouble.

I don't have my heart set on any particular brand. I chose Rancho's the first time as many folks here on DTR recommended them. They are an improvement over the OEM shocks but now I wondering if I can do better.
Not sure what the warranty is on these shocks but I am sure that any warranty is long gone. Am going to talk to the installer and see if he can give me a break on 4 new Bisteins. Fox & King shocks are pricey and I am not convinced that they will improve the ride that much over Bistein's. Anybody want to comment on that?
Has anybody installed Bistiens recently and if so, could you give me the part numbers and the price. Thanks.
Next month I am going to be installing new tires (315's) and I am also trying to find out if I need to go to a heavier shock for them. At least half my driving is on cobblestone type roads, so the shocks get a workout.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

I do know on the Chevrolet forums everyone complains about the Bilsteins.
They were standard equipment on the Z71 trucks. I had Rancho 9000's on my 4x4 Suburban and thought they were great. I'm waiting for the 3+1 Sale so I equip my Dodge with them.
BTW, I think your part number for the front shocks fit the '02 model.
