I'm ready to replace my donaldson with something a good bit quieter and would like some recomendations from some of you guys. I still want the free flowing qualities, just a lot less noise. Thanks in advance folks.

 

Install a resonator in front .I don,t think free flowing and quiet work together as far as mufflers are designed.If you tow any restriction will show up in the form of higher EGTS.A good set up quiet wise would be a resonator/40 inch donaldson,check out the FTE , i have the 4x26 with a 26 inch magnaflow,not bad,quiet in the cab towing heavy.

 

I put on a 51" donaldson muffler from work, 4" in/out. Couldnt take the flo-pro muffler anymore while towing. Its back to stock sounding for me, only reason why got rid of stock exhaust was my was a 03 with 3.5". Not sure if that was a good reason or not. Turbo mfg sugguest bigger exhaust system.

 

I have a commercial type Donaldson on mine. Slight noise when towing but not obnoxious and almost stock when driving empty. It was designed for one of those 5/6 ton delivery type trucks similar to a White Western Unit

 

My 51" nelson was quiet enough but it sounded raspy, like I had a trashcan with some rocks in it for a muffler. I packed the chambers with fiberglass and that gave it a nice deep tone on the outside and very quiet inside. Craig
