Quick question on Quad Boost Fooler

I am currently running a Smarty and an MP-8. On Quad's website it says that the BF is meant to be run with aftermarket injectors or a downloader, but not a plug/play module. So should I avoid buying a BF and using it with the TS MP-8??

I have a Dipricol RP gauge plugged into the map sensor along with the MP-8.

Also, my turbo is still stock for now....but I will be upgrading it in a few months.....and eventually, possibly twins.

Any advice? TIA

..

I see alot of people running the Quad BF even with other dl's and boxes. I called one time and I was told, when I had the edge and mp-8 only, that one of those was doing boost fooling so I probably didnt need it.

Now im wondering. Shoot its only $75.00 bucks I think. I might just try it and do some comparo when I get the truck back. Then again I never read that about the "plug & play".

tristan....I read it here. I remember when hooking up the RP gauge and the MP-8 I had a problem with it and the truck ran like crapola and had some codes etc. We took them off...put it back to stock....used the Smarty to clear the codes.....then rehooked up the gauge/mp-8 reversed...and it worked. But now throwing in the BF into the mix....im just not sure.

Im interested in the adjustable controller that another member was sayin he built also. I would like to see what the real purpose and so forth would be.

Like i said in the other post, all the boost controller does, is limit the pressure allowed past the regulator, causing the wastegate to open slower and let the turbo spool faster. Nothing complicated to it at all. a fooler just tricks the ECM to think theres less boost so you dont get a code, among other things of that nature i assume also. I can adjust my wastegate to open at 35PSI or not at all if i wanted it to, simply by turning the **** on the regulator. Messing with the wastegate arm itself is for the birds man.

Bill, do you have a Rail Pressure gauge? What is the order you have the items hooked into the Map Sensor? Thanks!

Robert,
From my understanding the MP-8 does boost fooling already. So no need to add a external boost fooler.

Mikey,

I guess I will have to double check with TS Perf. I haven't noticed any change in my boost pressure though. Maybe something isn't working right or not hooked up right.

Well I called TS Performance. The guy I talked to said he is "pretty sure" that the MP-8 does Boost Fooling. He was actually the guy that spanked me at the TX Diesel Nationals in the Red TS Performance truck. His reaction times were insane.

I was hoping for more than a "pretty sure"...but it was what it was.

Anyway, coming home this evening I went ahead and romped on the truck a little bit to do some boost testing. I turned it to 100 percent, where I usually just keep it around 40 percent. I guess the BF on the MP-8 is, in fact, working. It just suprized me how slow it started working. I haven't had much of an opportunity or need to notice my boost pressure since I installed the MP-8. But at one point tonight it did hit around 47 psi. Surprized me how high it went. But also surprized me how slow it did it. It went up like normal...to 30ish....settled in at 28....and after a few seconds.....went on up to 45+.

That is the best I know how to describe it. Any thoughts from you experienced turbo, turbo boost, boost fooler guys???????????

Connect the gauge up first to the MAP sensor then the mp-8.Both Smarty and mp-8 do boost fooling.

I haven't updated my Smarty yet to any of the newer softwares. I know I need to do it...but i've been just waiting on things to settle down on the tunes.

Sounds like the Quad BF would be a waste of money though since the MP-8 is doing some Boost Fooling.
