Questions from a new smarty owner
hi guys. I am a new Smarty owner and have a lot of questions for you all.Ok here are the readings i am getting from my commander. This is from useing the Stock Injectors With Aftermarket Turbo, with Moderate Torque Managment. on setting 7 with the smarty.makeing a WOT passMax Egt-1250
Max Boost-42
Max fuel PSI-7-8
Injector psi-24,500
Do those numbers look about right for what the settings are set to.I think my truck is still down on power.Because my truck still has the stock clutch in it and so far i have only slipt it once. that was after makeing 3 back to back wot passes.allso that was even uesing the Wild torque Management.
Allso for some reasion my truck will make over 40 psi stock.I figured it would make more with the smarty or even the Quad XZT.Sorry for the dumb questions guys. I was just wondering if anybody elese has run into this problem. Do you think i should just try running my truck on the Stock turbo and injectors file.guys do not get me wrong i think the smarty runs great. I just thought my truck would run alot better with the smarty.I mean have a lot more torque to it.maybe it has to do with my 35 inch size tires. My truck does not seem like it starts makeing power untill you get to 2000 RPM.Any help or info would be very helpfull to me. Thanks Mopar72
I doubt it is your question was too stupid, sometimes no one has any answers probably, and it is a Sunday.
That all looks good, those are some pretty low EGTs for that so that is nice. That psi is too high for a stock turbo supposedly. Its suprising it is cooling that well, I think around 36psi is where it starts to heat up the air it is pushing. Try running stock injectors and stock turbo so it doesnt boost fool.
The 35s are probably part of your problem. Plus, these trucks never feel as fast as they are it seems like. My truck is fast but "feels" slower than stuff it will out run.

hey guys thanks for the help. sorry for that i just thought it might of been to dumb of a question to ask. Ok back to my truck, what i do not understand is my truck will make over 40 psi in stock mode.I just do not under stand why it will make 40-41 psi stock. but will only make 42 psi with the smarty on 7. Allso it will make the same boost with the XZT as it will with it turned off?? It just does not seem to have as much lowend as it should. My 04 305-555 truck with just a mp-8 fills stronger on the bottomend than my 05. allso my 2000 ctd with a tst comp box and 100 hp bullydog injectors felt stronger that my 05. Maybe my 05 is just a thurd of a truck.but thanks guys for taking them time to read my post.thanks Mopar72
I would try running the stock turbo/injector program with wild torque management. Its what I was running until I started pulling my trailer a lot moving and the sides turned black!
My truck doesnt seem fast off the line either, but look out once the converter locks about 50! It picks up speed real quick then!

Thats not right, it should feel powerful on the bottom end. Check the fuel filter and also do you have fuel/rail pressure gauges? Maybe you are running out of fuel with a bad lift pump or something?? It also is weird to make 40psi stock I think, maybe something is going on there.
Can you get it to pour black smoke if you lug it? If not, there is defintely something weird going on.

again guys thanks for the help.Yes it will smoke if you lug it in sixth gear.I just got my truck back form the dealer last thursday for a bad lift pump. with my XZT at wot it was pulling the fuel pressure down to 0.with the new lift pump the XZT was only going down to 4-5 psi. Just to let every one know. With the smarty i have not been running my truck with XZT. I have the quad bypass pluged in.I just got done down loading the stock injector, stock turbo with wild torque file. After i eat i will down load it and let you guys know how it does. I just installed a new fuel filter right before i took my truck to the shop. I have the quad commander with fuel pressure set up. I for got does anybody know how much the boost the quad commander will read. i might be time for me to sell my commander and get mechanical guages. Thanks guys.Mopar72
I assume the Commander is reading the MAP sensor for the boost. If so I think 40psi or so is the max available for the MAP sensor.
Will have to use a mechanical boost gauge for higher readings.

ok guys i have some new numbers for you guys. Frist let me say wow my truck feels a lot stronger with the stock injector, turbo program with wild torque managment.with my quad bypass plug in. as soon as my truck got around 38 psi i could hear the waste gate kick in.but the weard thing is the boost would drop to 28 psi for a couple of seconds then start building back up.That is the frist time my truck has done that.ok i stop and hook back up my Quad XZT, but leave it on the 0 setting. Here is what i got on a wot pass.
fuel pressure min-1 psi ,max-10 psi
boost-42
injector pressure-24,739
EGT-1336
Allso for got to say now the truck would try and slip the clutch in 4 and 5 gear.but only if you was really into it.it would not do that before.I think the stock injector, stock turbo program is a lot stronger program. on my truck that the one with aftermarket turbo. from about a 15 mph roll in my truck going wot. it broke the tires loose, shift into 3 gear truck goes sideways
, shift into 4 and brake them loose agin. after that the truck is flying. This truck would probly be a blast with the stock tires on it. my truck really flies on topend.allso for got to say power shifting my truck it will not slip the clutch. the only time it will slip is if you are in 4 gear and get on the throttle hard, then you can feel the clutch slip.Looks like i am going to have to buy some mechanical guages for my truck. any body want to buy a 5 month old Quad commander with lift pump pressure? but thanks guys for all the help. Your commander is limited to the amount of boost it can read. The map sensor only reads to 40 give or take a few (depends on truck) before it is maxed out at 5 volts and that is all it will read.
You may be making much more than 40. Careful!
