Quadzilla XZT box under the hood

I am sure that the folks at Quad' will freak-out and say that I have voided my warranty for doing this...

But after removing my XZT II and it's wiring harness for a trip to the dealer (for repairs under warranty) I decided that it wasn't worth the hassle to re-install it under my dash. This thing really belongs in the engine compartment!

So, I went to REI and got a $15 waterproof Pelican Case, made a hole with a grommet for the wires to pass through and stuffed the XZT inside. Now I can easily access the XZT for programming and removal is a snap. It is sealed-up tight as a drum... no chance of water or dust getting in!

Here are some pic's;

Peace,
Mr Incogneto.

cool, I bet quadzilla won't mind that, unless you send it off for water damage or related problems....

Does the Quadzilla get hot at all? Does it need air to keep it cool?

just be aware that unless the box is sealed air tight, over time you will get moisture inside just from the temperature cycling, moisture will become trapped over time inside the case. Since Quad does not conformal coat his circuit card assemblies, this could lead to a short.
