quad race & rokktech, too much?
quad race & rokktech, too much?
After installing box, I notice a loud ticking at idle, mostly when the truck is cold, is this due to too much timing advance? I was going to back off the sensor some but figured I'd ask beforehand. Truck seems to run fine but seems/sounds a little much too me. I know rokktech site says it works but wondered what ya'll though?
pfffft central FLorida "cold" engine roflmbo..... that engine knows not what cold is....... afew are running roktech and quad boxes with no troubles.. if I ever get my but under my truck I will have the tone ring mod too and the quad box.
I was referring to "cold" in the sense of a motor that has not reached it's operating temp, not the outside temp. Obviously central florida is a much warmer climate than you guys above Tenn. The ticking goes away after 5 mins or so. I'll adjust the rokktech tomorrow and see if it helps.

For those of you running the rokktech and quad (or any other chip for that matter) was there a noticable improvement in power or fuel economy over just the quad or what ever chip you are running? Also isnt the rokktech and tone ring mod the same thing?
Yes the rokktech and tone ring do the same thing in the end. I had the sensor before the box. Truck didn't make noise before box which is why I thought the timing was a little high
Somtimes they tick other times they won't. More noticable cold but, will do it warm sometimes too. No need to worry 55k on mine ticking since new. Mine usually lasts 3 min on average when engine is cold.
