I purchased the XZT and Commander about a month ago. My XZT has been sitting in the box waiting for the Commander to arrive as I use my truck exclusively for towing. I have kept a tight lip over the past few weeks but I am now going to spill. In the last month I have inquired about when my Commander will ship. I have been given answers from 2 weeks to " we will ship some units on Friday" "We have no ship date" " I think I already answered that question we started shipping Friday and we are still shipping" "2 weeks but no guarantee" "we have units trickling in" I called Quad today and that latest is "another 2-3 weeks but no guarantee" Well stick a fork in me I am done!

Quad may have a good product and good CS but the situation about the Commander should be made clear either on their web site or a post here at DTR. I can understand back orders but this situation is unsettling. I want to make it clear that Lary here at DTR has been great. I really wanted the XZT to work out based on all the positive remarks here at DTR but I am not going to wait possibly 2 months or more and call only to get 2-3 weeks but no guarantee. Quad at the very least should have a disclaimer on their site that Commanders are in a B/O status and shipping may take 1-2-3 months? I will now turn my attention the Diablo, Edge or Smarty and I will make sure whatever I order is sitting on a shelf ready to ship. Reading about the folks modding their truck with performance enhancements here at the DTR forum and seeing my XZT sit in the box week after week makes waiting more than a month impossible.

This is that I was told when I ordered mine on May 8. I too am frustrated!

 

We are shipping them as we speak.

It is hard to know an exact ship date because of the testing process we go through before they are shipped. We are shipping 50-75 units per day right now. I would expect to be fully out of backorders in a couple of weeks. From there it depends on when you ordered it. I ship all orders based on the date we recieved them.

If you ordered about a month ago, I would full expect those orders to be shippng now or in the next few days.

As to the response I don’t mean to sound harsh but I was told this already two weeks ago. I really wanted this combo but have now received a return authorization to ship the XZT back at my expense. If you expect people to wait fora long B/O you should at least have the ability to tell them where they are on the ship list compared to when you received the order.

Waiting a month and then getting a response form your company representitive of "2-3 more weeks, but no guarantee" is unacceptable. Last week I waited for my Commander to finally come in so I could use my ZXT, that didn’t happen and we now have yet another ship date statement to add to the list.

For me I feel as though I have just wasted time and now have to order a different system that will most likely take 1-2 weeks to arrive but I will make sure it is in stock so I know where I stand on the arrival date. I am not trying to sound bitter here Mr. Quad; it appears you make a great product but the lack of communication, conflicting information and missed ship dates and receiving ½ of a system that can’t be installed is a little rough. I was smart enough to buy from DTR and they have been very accomodating considering the date I ordered the system.

You should probably speak to whomever you ordered it through. How am I supposed to know who has what in stock and how many orders they have?

The order came from DTR as previously stated abouve and was to be dropped shipped from your location in the order it was received. I really don't need to say anymore in this thread as it speaks volumes for its self.

For goodness sakes.

All DTR orders are put in the system as DTR orders. When they are invoiced and go to shipping they can be listed as a drop ship. We do not see where they go or who they go to. We can if needed but, you are not the ordering customer.

Don't act like you ordered from me and we acted like it would ship the same day. I never said that, and I am not responsible for putting something on my website that says "current orders are on backorder". That could be misleading and false. We do not take orders direct and we have plenty of distributors that stock large amounts of products. In general I do not stock for all of our dealers as no manufacturer would. So I could tell you it is backordered yet, it could be in stock at plenty of places.

 

If I had to guess I would say 2-3 weeks. Could be faster but, I am not quoting that.

 

Another thing worth mentioning is that the XZT box does not require you to hook the Commander up to work. You act like the XZT will not work unless you hook the Commander up to it?

No problem I'll just slap it on, hook up my TH and go for it. Not! If you took the time to read the posts you would see I use my truck for heavy towing.

With all due respect it's BEEN A MONTH! And Lary at DTR can only tell me what he has been told from you witch changes depending on the week, moon cycle or whatever. Nice cop out though.

Yea it will ship on Friday, glad to see you are back to quoting 2-3 weeks or maybe? LOL. I see you have a history of slamming posters that have had trouble with your company.

It seems like since edge hiked up their prices ALOT this spring that everyone is jumping to the quad commander since it's the only other "system" out there that works good and gives you an economical guage and chip control package. I'm guessing that's why it's been backordered most places. Manufacturers can't always anticipate these things and it probably takes time to catch up on orders and judging by quads products they don't just spit them out quickly to catch up. I for one was sold on the juice w attitude but have chosen quads stuff like many others since it does more and gives you more flexibility and is alot cheaper. I haven't ordered yet though as I'm waiting for the mad rush for commanders to die down so I can get one. Summers coming though and I will probably get the xzt and run it without worry untill I get a commander.

 

I hear ya DKU7 but I decided that the extra money spent for the Edge was justified over the wait for the back order. Spring and summer camping days are worth way more than the extra $200 or so price difference. I think waiting a month for the commander was patient enough, but when I called and was told 2-3 more weeks.. maybe that's when I threw in the towel and decided to get on with it.
