pyro prob install

I did a ton of searching this forum last night on this. Trying to decide best place to put it. I cant believe that there is no consensuses on the best location. I decided to put it on top of manifold between cylinder 3 and four as per the commander instructions. I hit a snag right away. The drill and bit cant be held vertical in that spot. The drill hits the back of the engine compartment. I don't have a angle drill or do I wish to purchase one just for this. I cant imagine that everyone out there has one either. So what gives? How is this done? I sure don't want to drill a hole that is angled. Advice please.

I did mine in the first place available to get the drill vertical, like you are trying to do. It works great for me. I just set the drill against the firewall lip, and drilled straight down.

i just did mine today after cyl.3, thats about as far back as you can go w/o a small right angle drill.

just so were on the same page, cyl. are 1-6 starting up front correct. did you mean you are trying to install it near cyl. 5 or 6?

btw, its cold, about 30 degrees out here now and just by stomping on it on the hwy for several seconds i saw almost 1300 deg. is that normal, i dont even have a smarty yet?

Don't know if would help with a pyro install, but I bough a right angle adapter at Harbor Fright for about $10. It connects to a regualr chuck in a 3/8" drill. Not the greatest but it has come in handy a couple of times.

I've seen a few taped at about a 45 degree angle in the back section of the manifold to the rear by #5. That supposed to be the hottest near 4/5 based researching this site. No angle drill required

I took the easy way out though and drilled by #3 where it easy and open for a standard drill.

I ran everything into the stock harness on the fire wall and found a grommet to run through on the fire wall that enters the cab just to the right of the skinny pedal.

I mounted all the other hardware beneath the radio since I used the below radio gauge mount. Make sure and use RTV to seal up the wires in grommet if poke the wires through there.

I like the easy wiring behind the radio panel. The gauge mounts we a pita though!
