Pyro guage problem

My pyro guage has been stuck at 400 F since I bought the truck 2 weeks ago and I'm going to start to try and find out why...Just wondering if this type of problem is usually with the gauge or with the sending probe? Thanks.

if you unplug the pyro probe does the needle move? if not i would say gauge itself, if it moves i would say bad probe...

pull out the probe (if easy enuf) and put a lighter to it. The flame should make it move. Could be a calibration thing... might be a tiny screw on the front or back to reset the needle to zero or room temp or whatever.

Turned out to be a bad guage....previous owner had it wired wrong as well. Had constant power going to it instead of switched ignition power source. The trans guage was also not working...wired wrong as well...had the sending wire where the ground should be and the ground where the sending wire should be...I just love quality workmanship! LOL
