pulling power?

hey everyone just looking for a little input... i have an 06 3500 dually with a 5.9, i use it to pull a flatdeck trailer it is a commercial registered truck so i was just looking if there was and upgrades i could do to get a little more pulling power out of it.... now i have been reading a little on here, but i am not too sure that i can do much exhaust work on it as it is a alberta commercial vehicle they might not like that don't really know.

I know i gotta let it breath but if i can't let it escape not much point in that... programmer? diff injectors? diff pump? i really dont know? i am not looking for speed just more raw pulling power.

For an essentially stock truck, changing intake or exhaust doesn't seem to do much. No bang for the buck there.

Like most modern vehicles, a computer tune can really make a huge differance. I use a Smarty Jr. The bang for the buck is certainly there. More power when I need it, better mileage when I need that.

Other than that, you'll spend a lot of money for small gains.

Gauges (first and foremost).

Then a Smarty or Smarty Jr.

Diablo. I would get a smarty Jr (set to tow), mod your stock air box either PSM or Home depot, AFE proguard 7 stock replacement, intake horn, if you want different exhaust just change the muffler to a big donaldson. Do you have a six speed or auto? The Jr will take you to the limit of the stock clutch. Peak diesel performance is a smarty dealer here in Canada.

Running a cat on my truck for noise control now with mods in my sig. Egts are not a problem at all on low and mid levels of the tst with Flux 2 injectors. The tst is an excellent towing box for what you are looking for. It doesn't start fueling until you are building boost so it will not blow any smoke even if you nail it. It also doesn't add any additional pressure so you don't wreck your injectors. hope this helps

Pm me your # if you like. I don't have much auto experience. But I think money is well spent on a torq converter and valvebody upgrades. Even a Jr on economy is good too until you get your tranny done. A wll built auto helps towing performance too. Do you have 3.73 or 4.10 gears? On finding the right truck, I had to go to Billings MT to find a long box six speed back in '07.
