PRXB, ECM actuation delay, Clutch Disengage.
So I have an '07 5.9L 6-speed manual tranny.
Just put in the PRXB.... Pretty cool.
I have the shifter mounted switch.
I expected this 2.5 second delay in actuation from the ECM, but it is not there.... I would have to guess that it is a 0.5 second delay... no problemo, But do other trucks have this same fast actuation???????
Because it is so fast, I cant shift with the brake turned on and prevent the brake from actuating unless i keep my foot on the accelerator pedal.
I think I need to get a clutch disengagement switch.
I speculated that with all the new fancy drive by wire junk, there might be a factory clutch switch already installed for the computer.... I did some checking and there is.... I think that using this switch will be much better than adding another one.... Did some more investigation and it seems to close when the clutch is depressed, and one lead is hot and the other is connected to ground....
I am going to try to use the logic in this switch with a normally closed relay and put that inline with the brake enable switch.
Does anyone know if this circuit is ground logic with a pull up resistor? or is it high signal logic on the 12 volts? I need to do some more testing to find out.

Does anyone know where this signal goes? The leads are really short in the cab but they go into a huge bundle on the engine side of the firewall.... It would be much better to Tee into the circuit on the engine side, but it will be really tough to find the leads unless I know where to look.
Has anyone done something like this with the factory switch already?

I have the same setup and never figured it was a 2 second delay either, 1 second at the absolute most.
Pac Brake DOES sell a switch for the clutch pedal, I put 1 in a couple months back. It just goes inline with your shifter mounted on/off switch and is an easy install.
contact Harold form Pac Brake (a member here) , I bet he'd send you one, they're pretty cheap, $25 odr something I think?
The exhaust brake has been my single most expensive mod to my truck, but I really like it.

Now I have 2 days of driving with it.... doesnt seem so bad to just shut it off when accelerating and upshifting.... i am getting used to it.
The cylinder does not have infinite life, so i would rather it does not have to actuate needlessly like when accelerating and upshifting. The switch isnt going to last forever...
I thought a bit about the factory clutch switch and it only seems to close when the pedal gets to floor... that might not be so good for the exhaust brake defeat. I think it should open the circuit as soon as you touch the pedal. I will probably just do the kit.....
Got to go tow some ponies around this weekend, but when I get back I am going to install my new gauges.... fun fun.

I've got the same problem with mine. I think PacBrake should include this switch with the standard transmission kits. It shouldn't be an option. I love the brake, but everytime I go to shift it basically slows the engine, which causes a rough, somtimes even a bit of gear clash shift. I called PacBrake and they want another $40 or so. I wish they would have just offered to send me one, but no such luck. I've seen better customer service. I guess I'll just turn the dash switch off, when I'm going up through the gears.
When I first installed my brake I did not install the clutch switch. A month or so later I decided to install the switch. It made a tremendous difference, instant change when depressing the clutch. I would not want to go back to not having the switch. I believe you can get that switch off of e-bay for a much better price.
It really should be part of the kit when it comes to the standard tranny.

CD, What is the part# for the switch you installed. When I called Pac-Brake, they told me the one referenced in the installation instructions, is for an older model. I think the 06 is the same as 07. Right? Who has them on ebay? The guy I spoke to at Pac said I would have to fabricate some sort of bracket to mount the switch to.
FYI last I heard about a year ago ,Harold had left Pac Brake to go to BD Diesel...maybe he's back...doesnt really matter ,you will still get top notch service.Just Harold used to chime into alot of the PBRX threads.
Well, I finally ordered and installed the #C20097 clutch switch that should have been included with the Pac Brake from the get-go. If you have a standard tranny, it's a must. This totally changes the drive-ability of the truck. Much better! No more burp in between shifts when the master switch is on. It now shifts smooth again. Now I can pretty much leave it on all the time. Pac charged me $38 for it. I wish they would have just sent it to me for free, but it is well worth the extra money. When I called to order it, the person I spoke with was almost reluctant to sell it to me. He told me that they used to include it in the kit, but stopped, because they found people didn't complain. Don't get me wrong. The Pac Brake install is by far, the best modification I've made to my truck. I love it!! I just think that manufactures should go the extra mile in cases like this. Yea, it might cost them a couple of bucks, but it makes a more loyal customer. And loyal customers are the ones that really sell their product. Word of mouth is a very powerful asset for any company. Just my 2 cents.
