who is doing propane? is it worth it? and where do you get it filled?

 

Propane is for barbecues.

 

Water/meth > propane.

 

What are your intentions on running the propane? I run propane on most of my road trips for the added mpg.

Water/meth will add power and keep your EGT's in check. If EGT's aren't really a problem, and you want to run it a lot, then I would go with propane. water/meth goes way too fast.

 

Propane is good for mileage with a small regulated amount. I have heard around 1 gallon of propane to roughly 10 gallons of fuel, if memory serves me correctly. Sat through a seminar the other day and this all came up. Meth bad, straight water good...... I am still learning more about it but ATS had some interesting info on this. I thought I heard them say around 7 mpg increase in mileage running propane.

 

I am interested in this as well, there are some threads on this but not much in the way of actual experience, just a lot of 'this is what I heard'. I think it might be a good way to extend your range and get better MPG's

 

I have a MSD propane system that is waiting for the snow and ice to finally go to be installed....the last thing I need right now is more power....I bought it solely for mileage and to keep my cruising EGT's up. If I was getting 7 more MPG right now....I'd be getting almost 30mpg....not likely....If I got 3....I'd be happy. I'm expecting a better than 10 to 1 burn ratio. I heard the MSD is a miser on propane compared to some of the other systems. ks

 

Do tell more once you get it connected. I can get propane cheap here and have been thinking about this for a while.

 

Yeah with the once again rising fuel costs I also would be interested in better MPG as it is I get on an average between 10.5 and 11 mpg depending on load and wind....

 

I have a chance of getting a LPG kit for my truck from a buddy of mine witch it came out of a Dodge truck and he got it for his Ford but is thinking twice and offerd it to me cheap, tank and all! Now I'm concidering it. Hummmm?

 

Vince....I hope those mileage figures are for towing...as that is what I get towing my 48' loaded to 33k combined on hilly trips. ks

 

you say it helps with your mileage! this may be true but your also burning 2 sources of fuel so it in return isnt any cheaper by the time you pay for it. now if you just want the power and dont care about cost than go for it.
remember propane is like salt it will rust the **** out of everything

 

How do you figure? I really cannot say it is not, but it just doesn't make sense to me.
