I have a 06 truck and purchased the SMARTY from DTR store. Following the directions I am having problems getting the SMARTY to communicate. I put the key in the ON position and have the cable plugged in and am receiving a ERROR UNKNOWN SOFTWRE. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be going on or any possible solutions?

Have you put any kind of down loader in the truck before?

 

Has your truck ever been updated. When I updated mine my Smarty wouldn't reload so I had to down load the new software.

 

I wonder if the ECM program in your truck is newer than the version in the SMARTY. I would download the latest SMARTY program from Mads Electronics and retry.

The truck has never had a downloader in it. It has been reflashed at the dealer. The SMARTY was supposed to come preloaded with the latest software.

 

Yup just get the software you want and it will be good to go.

 

Which torque management do you guys recommend? Stock, Mild, Moderate or Wild?
Do I add timing or not?
Which setting number do you guys recommend?

My truck is a 06, 4x4, Auto tranny. The only mods are a Kat delete with the stock muffler retained and a Whistler intake.
I do not tow with this truck and I drive very conservatively.

Mild is a good one. With a stock auto I would try level 3 if you do any towing.

I've got the same error UNKNOWN SOFTWARE.... I was trying to go back to teh Beta 4.2... like I've done a hundred times.... I got the error, hooked back up to computer redownloaded the 4.2, tried in truck again... same error. I'm downloading the Revo TNT back in there now.... What is the fix to this Unknown software error???

 

you have a newer software ecm update and the beta is now not updateable to your truck

 

Whoa..... so if I loaded the latest TNT off the site and put it on my truck, I can't go back to the 4.2??? For some reason, the 4.2 runs so much smoother on my truck and feels so much stronger....
